This is an extremely aggravating topic to get into for several reasons.
For the fans who ALWAYS vote for players who hardly deserve the vote (except for being popular year-in, year-out; like Dwyane Wade who got more votes than other deserving guys, like Lowry and Wall; or Kobe for the last 4 years).
For this position-less basketball voting that's incredibly biased towards players who have more skills with the basketball.
Specifically for the coaches who voted this year. Maybe there were a lot of deserving players that got in, but these guys are setting up double standards. How can the Hawks from last year get 3 guys voted in without the best record and why are you punishing the Cavs for their coaching fiasco DESPITE earning the best record regardless?
And for plenty of the fans who really do think a lot of the all-star game and pretend it doesn't mean much. It's not just a break, it happens to be the event in sports that is viewed the most during this time of year and draws in all types of fans (casual, hardcore, and what-not). It draws the most conversation all over the nation and somewhat hypes these guys up (and hit a stride later on when playoffs are around the corner).
It's hard to deal with this when you're a big fan, but unfortunately... it's hard to tolerate because it feels like you're being pitted against the country (and the world in a broader sense).
All in all, I don't like talking about this topic for those reasons...
So can someone shoot me now??? Please???
