Amare needs the ball though, will he take a backseat to LBJ willingly?
I think its because we see hickson developing and Amare is kind of a douche.
I don't trust Amare. I like the idea of getting him, but he's a lot of trouble. The messages he's given plus the chemistry he lacked with Shaq make me unsure if he'll be the championship bringer. We NEED chemistry to have a shot, and if Amare is more concerned about a pay check/shots/me than winning the god damn championship, he's gonna screw it up if he's here...
According to multiple league sources, the Cavs have put their interest in forwards Troy Murphy and Antawn Jamison on the back burner for the moment and are getting serious about a higher-profile name, Phoenix Suns All-Star Amare Stoudemire.

Stoudemire
The Plain Dealer is reporting the Cleveland Cavaliers are in negotiations to acquire Suns All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire.
Citing multiple league sources, the report confirms a meeting between Cavs general manager Danny Ferry and Suns GM Steve Kerr Friday afternoon in Dallas.
According to the paper, sources indicated the Cavs and Suns have been discussing a deal involving the five-time All-Star for nearly a month.
The two teams have collaborated on deals before, including a trade that sent Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland in the summer of 2009.
In recent weeks, Stoudemire has heard his name pop up in one trade rumor after another. Suns coach Alvin Gentry had a discussion with his big man before the Suns' victory over the Nuggets last week about all the speculation, reminding Stoudemire the situation is completely out of his control.
"I told him he's got to try to put it behind him and move on because whatever happens is going to happen," Gentry said after the game. "It always happens this time of year, there's someone that's always the talk -- it just happens to be him this year."
What's fueling the trade rumors is the fact that Stoudemire can opt out of the final year of his deal after the season. The Suns could decide to trade Stoudemire to get some value from him rather than let him walk away.
"It hasn't been explained to me why every year I'm the subject of trade talks. At the same time, it's a business," Stoudemire said of the situation. "They've never really explained to me why they want to trade me. At the same time, I can't control what I can't control. I stay out of it, and try to keep my focus on the court."
The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 18.
Stoudemire is averaging 21.2 points and 8.6 rebounds on the season for the 31-22 Suns.

I don't think this is a problem. LeBron will make sure Amare would get his touches.
I like Steve Nash and what he does for the Suns is incredible, but LeBron would make Amare's life so much easier and vice versa.
I am iffy about parting with Hickson, but this an offer you simply can't turn down. No one beats the Cavs this year and you can bet your ass it makes the chances of LeBron staying increase.
Considering we have Shaq and Z both coming off the books for a combined $31 million next season, I don't think Gilbert would have a hard time committing to a long-term deal with Stoudemire, even with a possible hard cap looming. I just don't know if the guy is worth max dollars. But if he plays a big part in helping us win the 'ship, then you better bet your ass he'll get maxed out just to make sure we keep this team in tact.People talked about not wanting to include JJ in a Jamison deal which I see and I think he would be able to be groomed for a couple of years from AJ and gradually take over but if we were to get Amare,I would imagine that it would be with an understanding of a long term contract so I don`t see the need for JJ at the same position.
I haven't heard much about the cap in months. Is the cap still supposed to be lower for next year? I thought Stern announced that. I thought it is going to be impossible to be able to sign two players to max deals because of the 2010/2011 cap.
