Amare Stoudemire may be available...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I first thing I think about in trading Z and JJ in any deal is Leon Powe. If this trade would happen, we got Shaq, Amare, Andy, and Powe as your bigs for at least the next 30 days IF Z comes back. I'd still do this deal... definitely. But we'd be relying on Leon Powe's health perhaps more than we should be. Just a small concern of mine...

I think this whole Amare thing is just a smokescreen anyways.

Amare and Shaq didn't work in Phoenix because of their pace of offense. Phoenix never decided whether or not they wanted to run or post. It's hard to run with Shaq, but it's also hard not to post him. It never worked.

Cleveland is a much slower team and pretty much a half court team. You can't double Shaq, Lebron, or Amare. If you do, Mo and, Gibson, etc. are going to burn you.

Why give up JJ, he is developing and looking great. He might better than Amare in a few years!

The problem is that the Cavs probably feel a little more pressure to win right now considering this is LeBron's contract year. As of right now, Amare puts the Cavs in better position to win the title in 2010. Is it at the sacrifice of 4-to-5 years down the road when JJ fully develops? Possibly, but the front office probably feels the pressure to make a deal and when you have a 27-year old All-Star as a legit option, it's hard not to at least look into it.

I would take this deal in a heartbeat basically giving up JJ for Amare because Z will be bought out.

Mo/Parker
Richardson/Parker
LeBron/Jawad
Amare/Andy
Shaq/Z

Kind of a half serious trade (assuming we get Z back). That would be the playoff rotation I guess. With Danny Green getting some regular season minutes. IMO it's safe to say that Jawad > Jamario.

I'm still very content to stand pat with our current team though.

you guys know that the "talks eating up per BW" thread in the main forum is all about this potential amare trade right?

I wouldn't go that far quite yet. Moon is a better defender than Williams and was very valuable to the team pre-injury.

If we don't have to sell the farm in order to get Amare then definitely get him.

On another note, I don't see a thread mentioning the Dallas/Washington trade that is going around. That's a hell of a trade for Dallas. They'd have Haywood/Dirk/Butler/Terry/Kidd starting and Marion, Dampier, Stevenson, and Beaubois off the bench. Lots of talent there.

Yet they still won't beat the Lakers or Denver in a series, IMO.

Dallas and LA could go either way. Dallas blew out LA earlier this year. LA blew out Dallas a while back.

I still don't like the idea of Jrich but maybe he can be a 6th man here? Kind of like the offensive firepower off of the bench. Or a spark with Andy, but to start him would make us terrible defensively in the backcourt and put a lot of pressure on our frontcourt.

Like a Jamal Crawford sort of thing... i wouldnt mind that at all

I don't get that at all. Jarmario is a better athlete, better defender, and better shooter. All I can say about Jawad is he doesn't embarrass himself out there.

On your last point, I'm with you too. If we can upgrade our team at the deadline, great. If we can't get a deal that is good/great for us, no sense in doing it because we are already the odds on favorite to win it all.

Actually, Jawad is a more capable ball handler and makes better passes. He also drives to the basket. Jamario Moon is one of the worst in the league at getting to the FT line. Both are pretty good jump shooters, though I would prefer to have Jawad shoot a 3.

I believe the Dallas trade actually helps Denver. Right now; I put the teams in this order:

Denver
Dallas
LA

Yep; I believe both Denver AND Dallas can now beat LA in a seven game series. I believe the Dallas trade helps Denver in that Dallas and LA will meet "before" either one takes on Denver in the playoffs. As it stands now; Dallas is big enough and now physically stronger to use and abuse LA in a series. The winner of that series will be beat up and tired. Denver will take advantage.
