Andre Iguodala on the market?

I really don't think Iguodala is that much of a pipe dream, the Sixers will be over the luxury tax threshold. They were obviously in contact with the Rockets for McGrady so money clearly is an issue for them, so think about it like this, it's either they trade a bunch of young guys on resonable contracts + Brand/Dalembert, or do they trade 2 out of 3 of their highest salaries.

So, Houston doesn't want to trade McGrady to Philly unless they get Iguodala + either Lou Williams/Speights/or Young?

Looks like Houston is going to have to waive Tracy unless they lower their demands.

Im still in a little shock of the news that the Sixers are really that willing to even consider something like that and trading AI2. The guy is the corner of their whole franchise. Maybe they do need to rebuild. Ill take him. That is a good young core if we could get him.

Oh, you do that trade for sure.....I just find it hard to believe that's all it would take....notwithstanding a better deal from another team.

Personally, I'd rather have Jamison/Butler over Brand/Iggy.

I don't think it will take much, provided you're willing to take back Brand or Dalembert, they were in discussions with the Rockets for McGrady, that alone tells you they are looking to shed salary.

Jamison and Brand both have miserable contracts, but Iguodala is an ironman and very close to all-star caliber, I'd definitely take Iguodala/Brand over Butler/Jamison.

McGrady's contract looks like a goldmine right now, the Wiz are thinking about giving up Butler + whatever other garbage they have for him.

I think Houston is in the drivers seat with this one.

I thanked you for the first part of your post, I also have a hard time believing that's all it would take. Franchise players don't just get traded for expirers, talent has to be included, therefore, West and/or Hickson as well. But while i'd rather have Jamison over Brand, i'd much rather Iggy over Butler even though Butler has a better perimiter game. Iggy is the better player, and Brand is no slouch himself.

Brand's contract is 2 years and 35$ mil more than Jamison. Not to mention that Brand has been injury plagued the last few years whereas Jamison has been relatively injury free his whole career.

However, I will note that, despite what I thought, Elton Brand is only 30. Iggy is only 25. Compare that to Jamison at 33 and Butler at 29.

That's the thing, Iguodala is not a franchise player, maybe the Sixers have figured that out too.

But man, could he ever be a terrific second option on any team. Especially this one though.

Can anyone imagine how awesome it would be to throw a lineup of Mo, Delonte, AI2, LBJ, and AV on the floor?

Or even Mo, AI2, LBJ, AV, and Shaq/Z

AI2 is certainly a homerun move.

This trade deadline is going to be exciting. David West, AI2, Jamison, Butler.....

Hopefully Ferry pulls another Mo Williams deal.
Reminds me of 1997 offseason with the Tribe. Hopefully Ferry doesn't keep Wright (Hickson) instead of getting the Pedro.

It's still a pipe dream, but has a logical reason for happening. Noone, not even anyone on that Philly team, is pretending Andre is a first option player. He's a PERFECT number 2 option next to a good passing superstar wing like LeBron or Wade, and he'll soon be 26, he won't improve much more. They have 2 contracts they'd love to get rid of in Brand and Dalambert, and some good young players coming up. They have the 2nd worst record in the league and are having serious money problems.

There's a reason why it could happen, but obviously young players like that aren't moved very often. I just know I'd give them anyone besides Mo and LeBron and take back Brand or Dalambert if they gave us Iguodala.

Mo/Delonte
Iggy/Delonte/Parker/Moon
LB/Moon/Iggy
Brand/Andy
Shaq/Z/Andy (if not shipped)

that's SCARY.

No question, as a second option he'd remove the need for an offensive minded PF, you'd just need a PF to hold his ground and make the occasional jumper. He'd also give the Cavs the ability to go small while keeping 3 offensive threats on the floor, and defensively any team with perimeter offense would have a nightmare scoring on him & LeBron.

Like I said, why would the Sixers be in discussions with the Rockets when McGrady makes $23 million, they have to know that the Rockets wouldnt take Brand and Sam together. So obviously a package of young talent, or Brand/Sam + Iggy are the only options.

True, but I don't see a team willing to give up that much talent for him.

Iggy + another one of their talented players >>>>> Butler + garbage.

I can see a team giving up a good player in their mid-late 20's + a mediocre player to get McGrady, but not 2 young, talented players like they're asking from Philly.

I can almost guarantee that Ferry would not take Brand or Dalembert. Unless he felt like they were good fits for this team, which I really don't see.

Ferry will not take on a bad contract to get the guy he wants, he'll just move on to another option.
