Antawn Jamison Trade Rumor

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
"im right because there is a rumor floating around of the cavs getting screwed"..... gotcha!

but i still want to know WHY? you havent said that, why would the cavs want to just get rid of jamison to get rid of jamison. its wouldnt be to save money because dan gilbert doestn care, so why. i can give a very logical argument that the cavs want to hold onto jamison while his value increases so they get more for him. you have no argument other than "see this rumor from a hornets message board, which though it rapes the cavs fully supports me, thus it makes sense"

Just read the post above. Why does Denver not want to take on Murphy and that other NJ pick that goes with him? In order to save money. That's why.

because NJ needs him in a deal with Denver for Billups & Melo (both have big contracts) to make the salaries work but according to multiple reports Denver doesn't want to take on his contract that's where the cavs come in play as a third team

Gotcha. Thats what I thought but I wasnt too sure if Billups would even be included since hes so obvious about a buyout. I feel like if this deal goes through (which I still doubt bc I see Melo stiffing Den and signing in NY) Billups wont be a part of it even though Den wants to dump him

I just want to point out that rumors like this that include AJ are good as it will start to drive his value up when the Cavs talk to other teams.

Minus the draft picks this wouldn't be a bad deal since Banks is expiring deal from what I remember and Ariza can be kept or flipped at the draft either this summer or next summer depending on what players declare as well as what teams are looking for a young player like Ariza. You can't always look at what a deal would do for the Cavs current roster but how that player or pick can be used as an asset in the future, while a 14$ million expiring deal has potential to be worth a top tier player a young solid role player will sometimes land you a lottery pick from a team that thinks it's only a piece or 2 away.

Why all of a sudden would Dan Gilbert be looking to shed salary?

It's been reported all around the league that we're willing to take on bad contracts in order to add picks and/or young players.

So it makes absolutely zero sense that we'd want to sweeten the deal for New Orleans in order for them to "take Jamison's contract off our hands".

Absolutely zero sense. None. Zilch. Zip.

Even without the picks involved, it makes zero sense for a rebuiling team to include a 24 year old PG in a trade that involves them getting back a mediocre SF, a high volume shooting PG, and scrap/size.

Here's something from twitter.com/incarceratedbob............i asked him if the Cavs are active in trade talks

@JM0815 Antwan Jamison will be traded actually he was close to being traded to Hornets last night but some things need to be worked out

I wonder who we will be getting in return

Better not be for what was talked about here.

That's coming from a NO blog, right? That tells us lots. It's wishful thinking from NO obviously. We couldn't be that damn dumb. Besides, we know from the past that most any rumors we hear before the deadline are just that,... rumors... and don't come to pass. It's the unknown trades in the works right now that most likely can happen.

Trade makes sense imo.

Jamison for Ariza is a wash (Cavs get talented SF in return over aging PF, opens door for JJ move back to PF full time)

Sessions for Jack is a wash (Sessions is all offense, no defense. Jack is a better defender, decent stop gap, good mentor for Kyrie Irving)

Moon for Anderson and Banks (Expiring for Expiring and center) This is a win for the Cavs

I can see why both team make this deal. (Like to keep the draft picks)

Even though as of right now it is a rumor, the blog is affiliated with ESPN so there is some credibility behind it. As for the deal itself, if what is being speculated comes to fruition, I like most of the posters here don't understand the move for the Cavs. Right now is a time for them to collect picks to build on for the future. The deal makes some sense for the Hornets because it will get them some flexibility for their team in the 2012 offseason when Chris Paul is a free agent. Now, one of the writers for hornets247.com did mention a third team could be brought in and that is ultimately going to change what the trade could be. The one player that has been on both the Cavs and Hornets radar has been Gerald Wallace and maybe there is a connection the three way trade could land the Cavs a 1st from Charlotte.

1.) Ariza's mediocre. J.J will not be moved to PF full time as long as Andy is out.

2.) You don't trade a 24 year old PG for a high volume scoring PG. And you don't trade him for a vet to mentor a rookie that you don't even know if you'll end up with. Settle that in the off-season when you know what pick you'll be getting & who is entering the draft.

3.) Couldn't care less what we get for Moon, but Anderson & Banks are basically throw-ins as an expiring & size. That's it.

4.) Us including the draft picks is the worst part, especially our own 2nd rd pick.

Dumb trade all the way around.
