Ok, gents. I need some advice re: what device to use for streaming video from my NAS device to my Panasonic Plasma (still better picture quality than LEDs, if you ask me!) I've been going the Gouri route for years now, downloading my media via torrents, storing on external HDDs, and playing using my PS3's media player.
Fast forward to today, and I've sold the PS3 (got $150 out of it before the PS4 was announced), and am in the process of setting up a NAS device for all my media. Here's my issue: What should I use to access the content stored on my NAS? Roku? Apple TV? Buy another PS3 and/or XBox for cheap?
For the Apple TV, its my understanding that all content you'd like to stream must be in your itunes library. Can I do this with my NAS setup, or do I have to actually copy the files over onto my laptop's HD and import them into my library?
For the Roku, is there anything stopping me from accessing the content stored on the NAS?
I think my question basically can be boiled down to this: I need a network-connected DLNA media player to access content on my NAS device. Which is the cheapest/most reliable route?
