Around the League Games

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Get Deron Williams in a Cav uni.

Deron had 42 points on 23 shots and 10 assists on top of that. Ridiculous. Durant had 45 but he did shoot 29 times.

Durant also completely faded in OT. God, I'm so bitter right now over the fact that Lebron has no chance in hell of winning the scoring title now. :(

LeBron should come out trying to score 50 next game, and see what Durant can do to get back ahead of him. LeBron's only .2 behind after tonight. He could still make a run at it if he wanted, though I doubt he will because he doesn't really care.

12-12 from the line for Durant and 10-11 for DWill. That's huge. I just wish we could do that more often.

I'd like to see that. But like you said, Lebron doesn't really care enough to go out of his way to drop 50 like that. I really do wish he did though :chuckles:

Utah wins 140-139.

Durant was fouled on the last shot of the game, no call, Utah wins.

Durant: 45/7/4
DWill: 42/3/10

Amazing finish. Game looked totally over with about 2:30 left in the 4th. Utah was up like 9 or 10, then Durant just started raining 3's.

One of the best finishes I've seen all year. Wow.

I hated how it ended... Durantula got fouled, and even though the guy gets MJ treatment, it still sucks to see a potential game winner being stopped by an all arm "block". Oh well, still a great game overall.

Boston wins, ATL on the verge of losing to Detroit. That would put Boston ahead of Atlanta for the 3 seed.

Detroit playing without Prince, Hamilton, and Maxiell. LOL. Nice job, Atlanta.

Charlotte has blown a huge lead to NO. Close game now.

Charlotte wins, keeping the possibility of them moving to the 6th or 5th seed alive. I am hoping they stay at 7 to match up with Orlando.

Steve Nash has to be one of my absolute favorite players to watch. He has one of if not THE best shooting strokes I have ever seen and he has the best court vision in the game today, hands down.

I agree. He's probably the closest thing this league will ever see to Pistol Pete.

He actually has a great case going for him as the greatest shooter of all time, and out of every great shooter the league has seen Nash's is the most picture perfect.

If Bosh isn't going to get back in time for the playoffs, I wouldn't mind "accidentally" whooping Chicago's ass tomorrow and waiting an extra day to rest. :chuckles:

Among the all-time great PGs, where do you think he ranks?

Well, in terms of legacy with those 2 dubious MVP's his ranking has to have skyrocketed. I think he's easily top 10, but I find it hard for him to break the top 5. My personal top 5 would be:

Magic
Isiah
Oscar
Walt Frazier (I might put Kidd over him, but both were great defenders and all around players. Jason's poor shooting ability during his prime kinda hurts him though. Walt's championship rings puts him over Kidd for me)
Stockton

CP3 is a sure bet to make that list if he can remain healthy and gets on a decent team.

Not winning a championship or at least taking his team to the Finals like JKidd did is going to hurt him in the end. Though it was unfortunate for Nash to continually keep running into the buzzsaw known as Timmy D's Spurs. The 2 MVP's kinda make up for it, but years from now people are going to be picking apart those consecutive MVP awards and saying he didn't really deserve them.

It's so tough to rank Nash lol. I think in terms of overall skillset he's everything you'd ever want in a PG in terms of shooting, driving, craftiness, cold-bloodedness, and court vision. But he just doesn't have the hardware to match up with the all-time greats, and people will inevitably assume he was just missing "it."

I guess the biggest deficiency for Nash that won't stand the test of time is how wretched his defense is. Unlike Magic, he didn't have a dominant big man to pick up his slack. But I can hardly blame him because the system he's played in doesn't stress defense, so his deficiencies on that end will only stand out more.

He's definitely the greatest shooter of our era imo, and he's an incredible playmaker so that alone should place him in any top 10 or top 8 despite his poor defense. What I don't understand is how he can shoot so well when the defenses he faces are keyed in to trying to contain him. He continually has to create his own shot, and shots for his teammates but he still shoots an incredible percentage. I can't imagine what numbers he'd put up if he wasn't the main focus of the opponent's defensive schemes, and had the luxury of having someone create for him.

Not to get off the Steve Nash topic (which I pretty much agree with everything you just said), but Charlotte clinched their first ever playoff berth last night. What is their magic number for clinching the seventh seed so they have to face the Magic? Right now, they stand at 42-36, 2 games behind Milwaukee and Miami (both are 44-34), and 4 games ahead of Toronto (38-40).

By my count, if they win at least one of their next four games and Toronto loses at least one, then it is signed, sealed, delivered that they will finish no worse than the seventh seed, which would be excellent news for the Cavs.
