Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

jesus christ, this is cleveland we're talking about here. We're going to end up being the NBA's version of the beatles. Holy shit, this is just too much to handle. We seem to be the most popular team in the league and the freaking LAKERS just won the championship. wow, we've come a long way since 2003. Thanks LeBron.

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

This is the very thing that we've been talking about over in the Trade Ideas forum for a while now. Maximus made the same point about Yao being out and TMac not being reliable enough for Houston to really do anything other than rebuild. You should also check out who's picture is in and has been in Max's sig. ;)

edit: Looks like Max beat me to it.

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

Gee, I had never really thought of Artest as an option.

Max giving the not so subtle hints...

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

I not so sold on Artest. Sure, he's an aggressive defender, but he's too stubborn on the court. He's a bit too selfish sometimes. Did anyone missed the Lakers VS Rockets series? The guy was forcing bad shots even before Yao's injury. He acted like he was the No.1 option. I would rather have him as LeBron's backup, but too bad we can't do that..

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

Last year Artest was one of my favorite players to watch in the NBA. He still shoots too many 3's though....

My take is a little different....

With Yao likely out for this year and maybe forever....the Cavs need to see if Houston will enter sell mode and what it might take to get Shane Battier in a trade.

Does Gibson, Hickson, Kinsey work??

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

How much things change so quickly. You can't overlook Ron, that'd be one hell of a deal and the best possible scenario you could use your MLE on. I'd have to not see us get CV after all the hoopla surrounding him right now with the Cavs - but you really can't pass up on the chance to get Ron Artest.

Only question - where does he fit in exactly? Wouldn't he be coming off the bench as a SF? He's 6'7" but I don't think it's possible to put him at SG and it'd seem odd to put LeBron there when he's 2 inches taller than Ron. That's my only concern at all, but it's kind of a small one when you consider how big of a deal he'd be.

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

Lebron gets his Rodman

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

While I definitely could get on board with Artest, I don't see how we can get both him and CV.

We can obviously only get 1 for the MLE, and that would have to be CV. I say that because it sounds like Houston needs time to figure out what they want to do. Can't waste time waiting for Artest and let someone else snatch up CV.

And after that, to get Artest, we'd need to sign and trade, with little assets, and Artest would have a 3 yr deal.

Too many hurdles.

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

Would Mike Brown even want him after being on the Pacers' staff? But I guess it wouldn't matter, if he would accept an offer and LeBron wanted him, Mike Brown's opinion would mean nothing.

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

Coach Brown has always said complimentary things about Artest from their time together in Indiana and has always indicated a willingness/openness to working with him again in the future. Don't have the links/quotes to back it up but i remember seeing things in the past 2 years to that sceanrio

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

I'm down with this...he was a tank in the playoffs, we need more gritty, old school, ruffneck basketball players on this team. He'd be a welcome offensive addition and a great defensive option. Go ahead and try to get off a shot Rashard..

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

All you can do is sit back and wait to see what happens. At this point, I have no clue how it's going to go down. Personally, I don't think that there's a snowball's chance in hell of getting Artest, but if the Cavs did, I could see them playing Lebron at the 2 and Artest at the 3. Then getting someone like Channing Frye for cheap as a stretch 4. Just imagine the mismatches:eek:

Re: Chris broussard on espn 850...About artest...Very interesting

I am definitely on the Artest bandwagon. I like his game a lot. He's a great defender and can play the 2,3 and sometimes the 4. Imagine a lineup of:

MO
ARTEST
LBJ
ANDY
SHAQ

That lineup would be unstoppable in my opinion. We could also go small with MO, DELONTE, ARTEST, LBJ and either SHAQ / Z / Andy. Now that would be unstoppable almost. Now imagine adding a Kidd or a Channing Fry with the BAE. That would be sweet.

Pretty sure Mike Brown was a pretty big Artest supporter actually. Obviously he was there with the whole brawl thing - but Mike certainly knows how great of a defender Ron is, and he's a great fit for our style of play. Still questioning what position he'd play though or if he'd come off the bench.
