Concerning the Phoenix/Portland/Cleveland trade Idea:
Phoenix came out and said they were not thinking of trading Amare or Raja. That usually means that they are. Now if a reporter had simply asked them, and they replied, that may not be the case, but in this case, the information was offered. Why would a person contact one of their media sources just to say they were not trying to trade anyone? Anyone remember when Wallace did that last year? He said: "We are not interested in trading Pau. He is an important building block to our franchise, and we expect him to be here for a long, long time." Three weeks later, Pau was playing in Los Angeles.
The deal does make Portland a lot better. But what is wrong with that? I want the Cavaliers to beat the best...not a scrub-finals against the Jazz. That would suck ass.
And who's to say Amare doesn't bolt for New York in 2010 anyway? Portland takes a pretty big chance with losing Aldridge and Outlaw and Blake...and they will ultimately have to get rid of more players, so they can re-sign their youngsters, because their main expiring (Raef) would be gone. However, you guys are right... Portland should add a #1 pick also.
For the Cavaliers: Raja will be around 3-4 more years, 2 of which he'll play regular minutes for sure. Raja is always in super-condition, and he will be a nice piece for the Cavs over the next couple years. Outlaw... he wouldn't be going anywhere. Does anyone really think that he'll be anywhere in the list of top-15 free-agents available in 2010? He would stay with the 2-time defending champion Cavaliers. Frye is an extra piece for us... a bridge for JJ's development. If he does well in his minutes, then the Cavs re-sign him to a small contract..around 3 million a year for 4-5 years
