Something that looks like a deal that both the Kings and the Cavaliers would be interested in:

The Cavaliers send Wally & 2009 #1 draft pick for Brad & Salmons.

As much as Salmons has improved, he has been a distraction in Sacramento ever since he has been being brought off the bench. Miller is older & still has a couple years on a pretty big contract.

With the extra Draft pick, although sure to be low, the Kings could target yet another BIG. They will almost definitely be looking at Rubio if they win the lottery.

Salmons would start in Cleveland, and Miller would be a nice pair-up with Ben Wallace. Salmons contract is 3 years, and is actually a little under-paid. Miller has a high number, but that contract would expire after next season.

In-Addition to the draft-picks the Kings would have, they would be a MAJOR player in the 09 free-agency class. This would give them the opportunity to turn around their club in one fell swoop.

A free-agent or two, a good #1 and 3 other picks that may or may not work-out, plus Martin... gives Sac some life.

Seems like we give up an awful lot in a deal that I'm not convinced makes us that much better..

Re: Miller & Salmons?

I like this trade! Because we get another big that can rebound and can hit the mid range jumper and we can a athletic SG that keeps getting better each year and can play D!
With this, we dont ruin our plans for the 2010, This is almost the perfect scenario. We might have to give up just more than wally and 1st, maybe a big along with him.

how about this trade

We get Brad Miller, John Salmons and Kenny Thomas(Bad contract) For
Wally, Sasha and AV and maybe a 1st or a 2nd round pick.

Our plans for 2010 will not be affected with this trade.

I wouldn't do that. AV > Brad Miller, and even though Salmons would be nice, he's not worth Kenny Thomas's awful contract.

And guys, Sacramento likes John Salmons, so he's not just a throw in, and I don't think Brad really fits with this team. If we got Miller, we'd have Z/Miller and Wallace/AV with not enough minutes to go around there, let alone including Hickson or small ball.

I just think that Miller and Z are too redundant, and a team who needs a center, like Chicago, could offer more to Sacramento than we could for him.

Stop thinking our plan for 2010 is to be under the cap to make a run at another major free agent. It will be almost impossible and I am sure Ferry knows that. This is your plan, not our plan. My plan is to win 1 or 2 championships by then. Salmon is a good fit at the sg for the next 3 or 4 seasons. Only one I dont like is adding Brad Miller (although he was personal friend of mine),as he is breaking down rapidly. But so is Wally, so we are basically trading our 1st round pick for Salmons. Not bad. Would you trade our first round pick for a title? I would. I think that trade could bring us that title too.

Re: Miller & Salmons?

Now... if we are talking about Hawes and Salmons, then I'd send them almost any of our available pieces that are being shopped and even take back Kenny Thomas contract

Glad we are on the same page here. I'm down with taking his or Kenny Thomas contract, and yes, Miller would still be a good backup for the next two years...

But it has to come with some young talent. I like Salmons but wouldnt give up more than like... Sasha and that late 1st for him

I hope you're kidding when you said we're giving a lot when we trade Wally for 1 reliable SG and 1 former all-star but still serviceable big. I understand Wally's contract has a large value but I guarantee you Salmons is a surprise player.

He doesn't look like an intimidating player but he brings many things to the table like scoring and defense which Wally doesn't have. Not to mention his basketball IQ is far superior. Would I give up Wally's treasured contract for Salmons instead for an all-star that may never come? Definitely! The Cavs need more intelligent players.

One can only hope that Geoff Petrie has the same GMing skills that of John Paxson.

The thing i like about this deal is we dont give up av and we still have sasha's smaller expiring and Ben's monster contract next year to trade. I like Salmons and he is young enough to be effective for 4-5 more seasons, Brad would be much needed big man depth. But I dont want to take on another bad contract if Brad is included, as he is well overpaid at this point imo.

I am not against getting all star players right now if we are sure we will win a championship with them. What if we don't with the people that have contracts past 2010, why take a risk like that. You/me/Ferry don't know what LeBron or any of the superstars that will be free agents are going to do in 2010. Why risk everything when we can play safe and still have a chance to win the championship between now and 2010. I am not a Brad Miller fan, I don't care if we get him or not. He is a decent player that can score and rebound(thats what the cavs need), I personally think he will be fine for the next 2 years. So, anyone that can score/rebound in the front court is fine with me.

Aye, definitely. Even Kenny Thomas' feared bloated contract is overshadowed by B52's colossal contract.

Haha, I just included him because I didn't know if Sac was high on Salmons. He is doing pretty good this year and his contract isn't too bad. So why would they give him up for a expiring contract. My bad for including him i guess :D.

No one knows what will happen, but history tells us no max player has left via free agency in over ten years (shaq). So history tells us all the max free agents stay put or get traded through a s&t where cap room is not an issue. There are alot of other good players but a full mle might get some of them to sign as the cap room will quickly disapear that summer.

No, nothing gurentees a championship, but nothing gurrentees lebron staying here either. What we do know is we have an aging all star center, other aging bigs, good role players, and currently have the best player in the league playing for us. The time is now. F@#$ 2010, lets win it all now and let other teams worry about us, not us worry about them.

Re: Miller & Salmons?

How about slamons and hawes? I like that better

Re: Miller & Salmons?

Why would the Kings trade Hawes? He's only 20 years old and is already giving them 12 and 8. Im pretty sure they want him and Jason Thompson to be their frontcourt of the future.
