Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To be fair though, his environment is pretty terrible. Rosen has not been good and was horrendous last night, but their offensive has been historically bad this season including the 3 games Bradford started. They just fired their OC.

Jared Goff looked pretty terrible in his first year under Jeff Fisher. You see now the difference added experience and an offensive guru has made in his development.

Shouldn't Baker be struggling as well, since he's got "the worst coach in the league"?

I still think it's scapegoating to an extent.

How could Rosen’s environment be considered all that different than Bakers?

Daily we’re told that Hue is the worst coach to ever take the field and that Haley is doing a bad job of playcalling. Rosen has David Johnson, and old but HOF WR, and a young stud in Kirk. That to me equals or even surpasses what Baker is working with at RB/WR.

It's not, really. Rosen has one reliable WR who cannot create separation, had one of the most unimaginative and boring offensive coordinators in the NFL, no offensive line and his defense sucks.

If anything, Baker is in a better position. Baker certainly has a better OC, a hell of a TE core, a running game and a defense.

Can we admit that Baker has been struggling a bit as well?

He's a far cry from our recent misfits and certainly hasn't been miserable like Rosen, but he's had his issues with turnovers and did not look good last week (as did the rest of the team).

Rookie QBs struggling under coaching staffs which gave their teams a Top 10-12 pick the year prior really shouldn’t be worth as much debate and panic as it gets.

I don't think it's a stupid post. How many of you were trashing Mayfield and praising Rosen?

How hard is it to just be like, "I'll eat my crow for sure in the future. Although nothing is yet proven/concluded, it sure does look like I was wrong thinking that Rosen was vastly superior to Mayfield. We will see how things play out"

Give the man his vindication and eat your crow when it's time.

You can say you moved on, but only because it is convenient for you. Put it this way: Imagine if Mayfield was utter garbage and had thrown 1 TD and 8 INTs in his 3 starts, and Rosen was lighting it up, throwing for 8 TDs and 1 INT.

How many of you would be drilling it down our throats about how we should've taken Rosen? How many of you would be 'moved on'?

I guess I just don't understand why it's so difficult for people to just own up. I've called myself an idiot numerous times because I've been wrong numerous times - it's no big deal.
Because what is this guy’s end game

Every time I log on to RCF do I have to denounce Josh Rosen?

I was a huge Goff guy. I rarely post about Goff unless someone says he isn’t a good QB. Because he’s not a Brown. And I don’t care.

It’s not about internet points man, who the hell cares? I would’ve moved on no matter how Rosen was playing because before the season even started I stopped posting about Rosen. Before he ever got into the game I stopped posting about him. Shortly after the draft I stopped posting about him. Because he’s not a brown and I don’t care. The only other QB I follow from this draft class and post about is Josh Allen because it’s funny how bad he is at football

There’s also some serious misremembering or hyperbole going on here. Almost everyone has admitted that Mayfield is much better than they thought. I don’t know if you’ve missed it or what, but it’s littered through this thread. And the people that were being talked down to about not liking Rosen were because of people saying things like “he might quit football to play tennis” or “he clearly doesn’t love the game”

And yeah, that deserved ridiculed. And that wasn’t really uncommon to read a lot

A lot of people really wanted Rosen, myself included. 4 games of NFL action and people dick swinging and speaking in absolutes seems pretty ridiculous.

You were a huge Goff guy.

But it seems more like you’re a “whoever AZ says” guy.

Prime example - Jared Goff

Look how wrong he was about Goff.

Top 5-10 in about every passing category. Disgraceful.
Lol, look how wrong he was about Hue:

Hard to remember the last time I was this happy with a move the Browns made. This is the leader of men that we have needed. And he has the added benefit of having an innovative offensive mind.

The culture of this organization needed flushed in the worst way, and I have confidence Hue is going to build this up in a big way.

This has been a dream offseason for me.

I mean, we're all going to be wrong about guys all the time. This is the NFL. Even GMs can only hope for about a 60% hit rate, and that's if they're incredibly good at their job. And they have access to a hell of a lot more info about who these guys are as people than we do. We mostly just have to go on tape and stats.

I just don’t understand why it’s so important to some people that it’s acknowledged that they were right or that others acknowledge they were wrong.

Hue was my #1 coach. I thought that was an outstanding hire. I was wrong. Just like I was wrong on Ogunjobi. And was wrong on Landry. And how I’ll be wrong on plenty of guys.

By the way the ONE person who was against Hue was @CosmoKramer and wouldn’t you know it, he doesn’t swing his dick around in every thread (or ever) about how he was right because it hurts the Browns so he’s bummed about it

If anyone wants to talk more about Rosen let’s take it to the around the NFL thread. I still think he’ll be a great QB, but this is the Mayfield thread buddy boys
