Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There’s no way kitchens is still around in 4 years. Baker is going to put up crazy numbers and someone will offer him a HC job.

Not if he is promised the Browns job and Arians is the one that lets him know. They are close, and he will get close to a young Baker still who wont be 30 yet in 4 years.

Don't agree at all.

Bruce Arians has always been a guy who gets players to fit his system, not a guy who builds an offense around the guys he has.

He’s a similar coach to McCarthy in terms of being slow to change and it was something that was evident in Arizona.

I’m not sure he’s what you’re looking for, but if the entire point of hiring a coach is to keep an offensive coordinator you like than you’re probably looking at this the wrong way.

I like what Kitchens has done too, but let’s not base the entirety of a coaching search around him.

So the comment that I love which was cut off at the end.

"I wouldn't be surprised in three years, if that division is theirs (Browns)"

I almost don't care about making the playoffs this year, I see the potential of this team. Keep Kitchens, hire Arians, and 2-3 years, we are perennial playoff team.

Let that sink in, that has happened since the 80's. Not make one playoff one year, but end of the year when they are talking Browns, they are talking what the Browns need to do to get home field advantage through the playoffs, not just make the playoffs.

Guys, this is our future. Get excited.

Why should we have to wait three years? Assuming we don't make the playoffs this year, our guys are going to be hungry as rabid dogs not to miss the playoffs again in 2019. As they should be.

The expectation should be that it'll be ours next year.

You mean like McDaniels has been offered pretty much every offseason, but he’s instead playing the long game to inherit the Patriots?

And for Kitchens he would actually inherit the QB too. This wouldn’t be some indefinite period. If Kitchens signs up for a 3-4 year plan of this I doubt after 2 years he would jump to coach a shitty team picking in the top 5 of the draft when he could just wait 2 years to coach the buddy boy

I think we also need to consider that Kitchens isn't a politician. If he were, he'd have moved up the ranks by now, because he's clearly very competent. He obviously knows how to connect with the players and we know he's coaching them up because player discipline and execution has increased exponentially since he and Williams took over the team. The fact that he's never gotten a coordinator chance before despite everyone seeming to like him is just baffling, which implies to me that he doesn't play the game.

So with that in mind, I could see him being loyal to the team if they expressed a desire to bring in Arians to groom him for the job the next couple of years.

Will we do that? No idea.

Next year we are probably a year or two away from being serious contenders. But I could be wrong, just think if you don't want a one year flash in the pan, you need to build a couple of more layers.

Fuck that, these guys are going to kick the door down next year and it will just be the beginning. Woof!

Are you suggesting next year they will be a year or two away from the playoffs or SB contenders?

Teams turn it around and win playoff games one year after grabbing a franchise QB relatively consistently. I don’t see any reason why the Browns can’t do that next year.

Without seeing a schedule, I see no reason why they couldn’t win 10-11 games and if they make the playoffs, who knows. Chiefs would seem to be a shitty draw, but Brady and Ben are getting older and it’s hard to say if those teams are going to be unstoppable next year.

We lost a couple we shouldn't have a have played most of the teams in the top 8 power rankings. We'll be there next year.

No disrespect to LeBron. But he's going to be way bigger than he was in Cleveland (more popular - I don't mean better at football than LB is at basketball). It's a football town. We care way more about football than baseball and basketball combine.

The buzz going around Cleveland is way more potent than anything the Cavs or Indians can do.

If he wins a Super Bowl, well, Baker Mayfield can rename the city after him.
