Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No disrespect to LeBron. But he's going to be way bigger than he was in Cleveland (more popular - I don't mean better at football than LB is at basketball). It's a football town. We care way more about football than baseball and basketball combine.

The buzz going around Cleveland is way more potent than anything the Cavs or Indians can do.

If he wins a Super Bowl, well, Baker Mayfield can rename the city after him.
I would trade literally 20 consecutive NBA championships for 1 super bowl

That’s how little the Cavs mean to me when compared to the Browns. And I’m far from the only person to feel that way.

Agreed a lot of people feel that way, but frankly at this point just give me fucking anything. The NBA title was phenomenal.

Are you suggesting next year they will be a year or two away from the playoffs or SB contenders?

Next year I think we make the playoffs, but not top tier, year after we get pretty serious, and then the year after that we are in the home field advantage conversation.

I am feeling that Dorsey is building something special. We are saving our cap room to keep our own, and its going to work. Its exciting watching this kid, and the coaching decision is going to be a huge decision.

I would give up a testicle for a super bowl win.

You mean like McDaniels has been offered pretty much every offseason, but he’s instead playing the long game to inherit the Patriots?

And for Kitchens he would actually inherit the QB too. This wouldn’t be some indefinite period. If Kitchens signs up for a 3-4 year plan of this I doubt after 2 years he would jump to coach a shitty team picking in the top 5 of the draft when he could just wait 2 years to coach the buddy boy

Depends who is the head coach right?

If we hire Arians and Kitchens stays then yeah, sure maybe he waits to take over but a young HC that will not happen.

Absolutely. And it was right and appropriate that LeBron was the guy who took us to the promised land. The drought ended the way it should have ended, in historic fashion, with LeBron being the guy who ended it.

At the same time, though- and I don't think I'm saying anything you don't already know- there is only one team that can truly put this area's sports angst to bed for good. And I think it's the same for every multi-sport town. There's always a pecking order among the teams. Like, I'm sure people in Toronto would be overjoyed if the Raptors won the NBA title, but it probably wouldn't compare to the Maple Leafs winning the Stanley Cup.

The foundation has been set, he's just adding ancillary pieces at this point.

Huh? An NBA title is a lot harder to win than a super bowl. Far less parity. If you don't have LeBron or someone like him, you have no chance. Football can be won in a lot of different ways and it is WAY more flukey than running through 7 game playoff series. It's rare the best team doesn't win in basketball.....it is not in football.

I love football but I think qualifying things like this is a little silly. Would you REALLY trade 1 Super Bowl for let's say, even, LeBron winning 6 titles in a row in Cleveland and going down as the greatest basketball player of all time? That is essentially what you are putting on the table.

I love Baker, love the Browns, football is a religion in Ohio but Im not giving up GOAT status and multiple titles in one sports to see the Browns win 1 time. That's silly.

This is all a fantasy exercise, so none of it matters but I will say this.....Baker has a chance to become more popular than LeBron because he's more relatable.....similar to a Steph Curry. Kids see Baker and they think.....guys not that big, he's not that athletic, was a college walk on....."Hey, I could be him" and they will gravitate towards liking and cheering for him.

With LeBron, people marveled at his skill but few kids looked at LeBron and thought......"I can definitely be a 6'9" greek god who can somehow run and jump like a kangaroo at 285 LBS."

Make your voice heard and vote for the buddy boy

Not going to lie......I would laugh if Barkley didn't get it in a week in which he put up 179 yards rushing on 12.1 YPC. :chuckle:

I'm a Baker homer but isn't Barkley going to win ROY? I think producing at a level Baker is, as a rookie QB, is harder but Barkley's number are gaudy, playing behind a crap offensive line.

He's on pace for 1400 yards rushing, 800 receiving and nearly 100 catches.

My man I promise you I would. I would send the Cavs out of town if it meant a super bowl. This isn’t like when you love all your kids equally. The Browns are significantly more important to me than the Cavs. And I say that as someone who buys the NBA league pass single team just to watch the Cavs. I love the Cavs, but compared to the Browns they’re meh

I would rather experience one super bowl win in my life than have the greatest NBA dynasty of all time.

For the fan voting ones I have no doubt Baker will win

I actually agree on ROY. The fans vote for the ROW, so most likely its Baker because Browns fan are insanely passionate. But for the ROY which is not a fan vote it should be Barkley which is fine.

Give me 15 years of a top 3 QB over 8 years of the best RB in the league any day and twice on Sunday.

And Barkley is still not better than Gurley, but just saying how excited I am for the future with Baker.
