Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
CB is the hardest position to transition to outside of QB, Chubb will be third on the depth, Corbett is raw but shows promise. How has this roster dramatically improved from last year that should increase the win total from 0 to 5 or 6 if Hue does his job? That was the debate. This is still one of the worst rosters in the NFL.

It hinges on potential and everything going right.

For the record? They made good moves on paper. They signed free agents to attempt to improve their team, and they drafted players they need. I think they, in theory have talent.

But for an organization like the Browns? it's going to take a bit for them to flip the switch.

The 1-31 record is not because of this team drafting poorly in 2016, 2015 respectively. It's for all the missed picks, avoiding talent and this belief of "Building through the draft" while not signing free agents that could help this team.

They -may- just now be getting it right, but it's going to take a few years before that bares any fruit.

It’s true.

CB is the second hardest transition transition to make according to people who desperately need to make a general statement backing up their garbage take.

The biggest position that translates to wins:

QB.

Now, can we go 2-14? Possibly. But I don’t see any damn way we don’t win ~5 games if we don’t suffer drastic injuries.

I get where you are coming from and I too want to see it before I believe it, but with the experience our younger people have had the past year or 2, and the additions we have made, it would be nuts if we come away with a 1-3 win season.

I’ll bet you a donation to RCF or any nonprofit of your choosing that we will have 2 wins within our first 6 games.

Well how do you think Ward will do?

What part of my "garbage take" don't you agree with here? Or are you just going to make another attack without giving any sort of opinion/insite? Two pages ago you tagged me with a "winner" rating after I pointed out PFF rated the Browns roster last in the league. If Hue doesn't get 5-6 wins he will absolutely have an excuse this year. He might be a terrible coach but he isn't exactly working with the Eagles roster here.

Too soon to tell, but just calling everyone projects trying to illicit some responses from people is a waste of time and not very genuine.

Given where he’s come from and the readiness of others, id guess he’ll be fine.

That appears to be the easy part of the schedule on paper with 4 of the 6 at home and 6 of last 10 on the road.

I'll bet total wins.
0-4 You pay $20
5 You pay $10

6-16 I pay $20

I always forget the OSU track record with players in the secondary. Which is pretty insane when one thinks about it. I think it dates back to the Hayes era? I could be very incorrect on that.

My intent was not to agree with the "PROJECT" label but rather to say I think he'll suffer a few hiccups here and there during his first season.

...

As for Hue getting 6 wins? As controversial as this to say. I think that would ensure him another year. Because that's actually an incredible leap forward all things considered.

Hell, they can win 2 games and that take wouldn’t be any less a pile of trash.

Also, in case some of you forgot, Hue gave total control over the offense to Haley. Unless he backfires on that and goes against his own word, Haley will be calling the plays. Can Hue fuck it up with missed TO calls/clock mgmt? Sure. But he won't be calling the plays.

Good explanation and counterpoints. Overall great discussion.
