Best Case 2012-13 Cavs Team

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
PG- Irving/Sessions/Sloan
SG- Gordon/Ross/Green
SF- MKG/Gee/Novak
PF- Hickson/Jamison
C- TT/Varejao/Pumlee/Odom

Irving/Boogie
Rush/Gee
Beal/Casspi
TristanThompson/Jason Thompson
Verajao/Melo

Re-sign Gee, Jamison, Sloan, Samuals

Draft day - Trade AV, L. Walton, Our 1st round pick (probably 4 or 5) to OKC for Harden and Perkins.

Draft: second 1st round pick - F. Melo
second round 1st pick - D. Lamb
second round 2nd pick- C.J. Leslie

Sign Asik, or Hawes

Cavs:
Irving/Sloan/Lamb
Harden/Gee/Lamb
Leslie/Gee/Casspi
TT/Jamison/Samuals
Asik or Hawes/Perkins/Melo

OKC: Re-sign Mohammed
Westbrook/Jackson
Beal/Sefolosha
Durant/Hayward
Ibaka/Collison
AV/Mohammed

I know I'm dreaming right.? But I don't think it's to bad for either team. I doubt OKC is gonna be able to keep the big three, and Beal would be a good compromise. Plus we take Perkins god awful contract. AV and Ibaka would be a hell of a tandom. By the time we figure out what to do with perkins contract, Melo should be broke in.

Any thoughts? Please be gentle ;)

Best case scenario for next year pretty much begins and ends with getting Davis with the top pick, right?

I'd say... Getting Davis would be huge. Getting MKG would be pretty nice as well.

Personally, I'd rather get MKG and take a project 7-footer with the Lakers' pick.

Irving, Gee, MKG, Thompson, AV

That would be a VERY fun starting 5 to watch.

Love MKG, but teams would just guard Irving 1 on 1 and pack the rest of the defense in and clog the lanes. We'd have no shooters.

Assuming lightning does not strike twice and we do not get Davis

Irving/Mo Williams/boobie
Gee/Brandon Rush/boobie
MKG/gee/Orlando Johnson
Tristan/AV/Samardo
Hibbert/AV/fab melo

AND three undrafted free agents that we can stuff in D-League..

Depending on the pong balls, we could sub PJIII for MKG, Draymond Green for Orlando Johnson, and or Festus Ezuli for Fab Melo... And for those of you wondering if we have the cap space for Hibbert, Rush and Mo, I think we do if we drop Jamison and perhaps buy out Walton....

how do you plan on acquiring Mo?

he has 8.5m player option next year that I don't think he'll leave, really don't see how we would give him something better than that, I'd give him a MLE though.

It's a good point, in that I really have not gotten a good feel for the current CBA... With this scenario, we are signing Hibbert, rush, mo and three draft picks. We are renouncing Antawn, parker, buying out Walton, send semi, manny, sloan and Harangody to d league without a contract. Stashing a pick in Europe.

Estimating the cap at 58 million dollars, the 2012 draft takes 6 million in cap hold, We have 20 million in AV, Ki, TT, AG, Assfingers, and Samardo. We have another four million non guaranteed to boobie. That would leave us with 24 million in straight cap space. I am not certain the max we can offer Hibbert, but given Bynum averaged 14 over four years, I think worst case is 12 first year, then I think mo plays with us for the same money because he i don't think he is happy on clips, and we use the rest to pick up Rush.

I realize Mo may not bite, but I think Ramon would return for that kind of money, or you could capture ray Felton in that neighborhood, or you could make a run at Lin or Dragic, or Rudy Fernandez perhaps for a lot less. Heck, the way Lester hudson played the other night, we might get by with him. I just think we need a combo guard who can rest Kyrie, or run with Kyrie to provide some points, if the match up is there. I think Hibbert and Rush are more important components to make the big leap in competitiveness.

Best case... U get lucky and acquire the 1st pick Anthony Davis. Take the best point guard available with the Lakers pick 26th C J McCollum. Draymond Green falls to the 33rd pick. Take Alex Young 34th pick. This summer acquire Eric Gordon.

sf Alonzo Gee/ Draymond Green
pf TristenThompson/ Antawn Jamison
c Andy Varejao/ Anthony Davis
sg Eric Gordon/ Alex Young
pg Kyrie Irving/ Lester Hudson/ C J McCollum
