Bosh

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I certanlly hope we get him i think he is one of the better PF-s in the NBA

This whole situation revolves around what Bosh wants period. If he states that he won't re-sign this off season for the Raptors, he will be on the trading block this summer.

And it's also possible, because I have heard LeBron say it before, that he would be willing to sign a lesser $$$ contract to bring in a Bosh type player. If Ferry and Gilbert can get Bosh, LBJ, and Mo to take a couple million off each salary, then we would have more money to work with I hope.

"Wake me up when we reach 2010"

This is what i found in chad's chat

gregg (cleveland, OH): Chad, you never mention the Cavs as a possible destination for Bosh and I'm curious why. As it stands, they should have enough money to offer a max contract in addition to Lebron...wouldn't teaming with Lebron and chasing rings with a max deal be more enticing than signing in, say, New York or Chicago??

SportsNation Chad Ford: Because I think LeBron is leaving. Not sure why Bosh would go there if LeBron's not there. Now ... with that said. If LeBron stays, then yes, Cleveland could be a player for Bosh. And given the economy and a potential low cap of $55 million in 2010, the Cavs chances of signing him have increased. I don't think that New York or the Nets can clear the room to sign both LeBron and another All-Star.

I know W&G talked about it already but this is just another source.

"Because I think LeBron is leaving"

How anyone can think Lebron has a greater chance of leaving, than, staying, given all the events of this NBA season (Cavs being gang busters, the salary cap situation in 2010, etc) is beyond me.

He also says NYK wont be able to sign another max deal. So LBJ would go to NYK to be on a 8th seed team over a 1st seed team with 2 allstars in Mo and Bosh?

You can't work for ESPN and support any other viewpoint or opinion on Lebron James, and his future.

As much as Lebron continues to hint about his being happy in Cleveland ...eventually breaking every statistical in the Cavs record book, coming right out and saying at the Obama rally that he's not going anywhere, that winning is the most important factor for him, not the size market .... these are things that have come from Lebron's mouth that never, ever get any accounting for, or acknowledgment of from anyone that has their face in front of an ESPN microphone...

Of course it's just common knowledge that Lebron is leaving Cleveland in 2010 ...but what would the rationale be, based on the things that Lebron himself has said ? None exist. To me, it's more a questin of whether he either utilizes the one year option and buy some time to see where the economy goes, go ahead and sign longterm now, or wait and do it in 2010.

I think he's staying here. Why? Because of all the reasons he's detailed publicly that will be the basis for his decision.

LOL yeah ESPN is shit. I am actually glad and jealous that we do not get it in Canada. I am glad because of the douchebag talking heads, and yet jealous because I would actually like to watch some of the shows.

Any way that is not the point lol. If the cap goes down it is more beneficial for Bosh, Bron, Wade, Amare to keep their options and make the 17+ million as opposed to the money that they can make on the max. Somebody did the math on here and he would make almost 1 million less by opting out to sign long term for the max.

Now I actually have a question and this is not just for you, but possibly some of the other posters as well. If LeBron foresees the cap going down, then would it be more beneficial for him to sign an extension next off season? For instance if the cap goes down to 55 million then the max he can make is 16.5 next year, but if he signs an extension this off season is the new contract number not based off of the current cap, and if so it would be more beneficial to sign longer now. That is my way of thinking, but I am not a salary cap genious.

Well to be fair a few ESPN guys do think he's staying. But you'd never know it unless you read their chats. usually when a guy on their shows like First Take makes comments that dont support Lebron leaving, they cut hem off or laugh at them (ie Chris Broussard being laughed at by Michael Kim)

If/When LeBron signs his Cavaliers extension, i'll be shocked if ESPiN even reports it.

Every analyst drooling over the summer 2010 is hilarious. No one realizes that only 1 or 2 teams is gonna vastly improve this summer. Bosh is obviously gone, but will probably be traded before then and could sign an extension with his new team. I don't see Kobe going anywhere, he'll retire a Laker, I think LeBron ultimately stays (but teases it longer than we'll like), and Wade right now is probably 50/50. That leaves Amare as pretty much to the closest sure fire lock to sign somewhere new. The rest are a bunch of mid-upper level aging players.

A lot of GM's clearing cap space just for one summer are gonna end up shooting themselves in the foot.

Is Lebron's contract and a max offer soley dependant on the salary cap (portion of)? I believe Garnett used to have the biggest contract around because he signed it before the new max contract rules hit. I believe before his was traded to the Celtics and signed a deal he was eligible for a certain percentage increase from one year to the next. Our current max contracts when player sign with their current team this way too?

If this is still the case and the cap goes down then the difference between what the Cavaliers can offer and another team should get larger.

I want to stay away from all bosh and Amare conversations until this season is over....but then again what will we talk about right?

I don't think there is any question the CAVs make a serious play for Bosh this off-season and that will be with LeBron's blessing. Does anyone really think that Danny Boy and Gilbert did not discuss with James first dealing for Amare and Shaq this past trade deadline? If I were Danny Boy I would keep LBJ completely in the loop. For the CAVs to trade for Bosh and expect to resign him, LBJ will have indicated some willingness to stay with the CAVs at least a little longer and maybe take a little less money if necessary to fit Bosh in.

Wine and Gold, I'm curious to know what the reaction in the Cavs front office is like to the national media's agenda to play up the LeBron to NY angle as much as possible. Does it frustrate you guys to the point where you feel like the media is essentially another opponent? Are you like me and want to throw a brick through the television every time you see Stephen A. Smith's ugly puss on the screen?!

I think that if given the tools to succeed if he wins a title in Cleveland he would transform Cleveland into a Large market when it comes to basketball. People will go to where he is (the media circus that follows lebron everywhere) so to say Cleveland isn't a large market might be misleading.

We do have a greater following than a lot of NBA teams. Also when you have the endorsments coming into the city (Nike with their huge Witness sign) then you cannot theoretically be a small market. Like MJ in Chicago and how he basically transformed that city into a large basketball market (it was either the Bears or Cubs/Sox).

Also if you win a title in a town that hasn't seen a championship in over 40 years then by winning in said town your status increases from GOAT to Legendary. So you have to ask yourself if winning a title in Cleveland will make you more of a celeb than winning a title in NY? Also if you win in Cleveland you can bring in others such as Bosh.

How many banners did the Bulls have before Jordan? How many after? It is the same concept here.
