Sorry if this has been discussed but any idea what number Deng will wear since Delli wears 9?

I think Delly should wear something like 99 or 00 and give Deng 9 .. lol .. Delly just seems like he should have a unique number with his scrappy play... lol

Give him # 23 :chuckles:

As expected, Luol Deng practicing with #Cavs today.

This is the type of change that catapults you into title contenders, not right now but in the near future. Acquiring Deng shows the young guys that we are done losing and that we are turning the corner as a franchise. That has to be so exciting for guys like Kyrie and Dion who have been on a shitty team since drafted. And don't tell me Dion isn't excited because Deng will take away shots because last time I checked in here people were saying Dion wants to win more than anyone else on the team.

We now have a nice, solid group of young guys (including Deng at 28 in his prime) to build around. And this group could be good enough to entice LeBron to come back, and if we can work it out to keep Deng and still sign LeBron we would win no less than two championships within 5 years, hell maybe more. Kyrie, Dion, Deng, LeBron, TT, Karasev, Zeller, CJ, Jack, a decent 2014 draft pick... That's a talented and pretty deep roster. We could also probably get some solid ring-chasing vets for cheap.

This is the trade that turns the corner for the franchise, if LeBron returns and we win multiple championships, we can look back and thank this trade for those championships. We needed to start winning eventually, now that we got Deng that will start soon. This was a stepping stone for the future, now only a few more pieces need to fall into place for us to be a championship contender. It may take a year for that, it may take 3-5 years but we are heading in the right direction. Even if LeBron doesn't come back, we are still in a great position for future success.

Let a winning culture take root and I think you'll see personality issues start to resolve themselves. Adding Deng who is a proven winner and one of the hardest workers in the league should become infectious. He's going to make everybody's job so much easier.

Mike Brown says Luol Deng "most likely" will start in his first game for #Cavs at #Jazz on Friday.

You can see last night the difference in the team's energy level now that they know the tank is over. Getting a guy like Deng in here to show the kids how to work and how to prepare and how to play team ball will be huge. I want to see what these young players have in the playoffs. They need to see first hand that they will be guarded closer and fouled harder and the whole game will be faster. They need to feel the difference.

Coach Brown not quite ready to fully give up on the Earl Clark experiment :chuckles:

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

This isn't directly solely at you, warriorsz, because you are certainly not the only member here to post something like this or even feel the same way... but this line of thinking has to stop, now.

I realize the front office probably isn't thinking this way (at least, I hope not), and we as fans are in a unique position because our thoughts and opinions on the way the team is built are irrelevant, but it's been almost 4 years and LeBron is still lording over this franchise in some capacity. He was a great player for the Cavs. He left. If he comes back, he comes back. This team isn't, and shouldn't, be making moves to try and entice him to come back.

Again, I know it's different for us, but doesn't make anyone at least a little sad that the "LeBron Safari" thread has over 400 pages? It's a shame, really.

(Sorry, rant over)

Fuck that... I'd rather LeBron just wear the number if/when he comes back, or no one does until we get someone worthy of it.

LOL. If the Cavs did give Deng #23 I would hail Chris Grant as the GOAT. But they've already done too much.
Reminds me of when the Eagles gave Jason Avant #81 immediately after T.O. got the boot (he still wears the number).
