Browns rant thread.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And most of us here are in agreement that the main thing holding us back from winning games is our inept coaching staff.

Bingo.

And yes, if hue indeed signed off on not drafting Wentz, etc? that's on him.

Hold on a second. Am I to believe it should take more than 1-2 offseasons go fix 15 prior years of mismanagement, awful drafting, multiple schemes, negative culture and overall ineptitude?
Teams go worst to first all the time in the NFL

Look if we're sitting here pre- Bengals game and this team 4-6 with wins over the Jets, Colts, Titans and Jaguars? We're not having this conversation.

We're not thinking about QB's, the botched 2016 trade down, or dumping this entire front office.

We're likely going "Huh. That James Washington might be a good late first/early 2nd round guy to target at WR", etc.

But that's the fact of the matter. 0-11 is 0-11. No sugar coating it.

But we've had multiple years since 99 with 2-4 meaningless wins that fans are crying for, for some validation. What exactly would be different if we won the 4 games this year that we lost by 3 points? How does the ball bouncing our way on 4 FG's change the overall outcome of what we see every Sunday?

You act like a win erases everything. It doesn't. The Broncos have some of the best defensive players in the league and they have 3 wins and they look worse than us right now.

You ever notice how every year there's a team that wins more than people expect and people ask "Are they for real" There's a reason why people ask that question. It's because wins and losses don't always tell the whole story. A win doesn't erase the status of your team.

I'll give you an example. The Raiders have the worse defense in the league and they have 5 wins. 2 of their wins have come against DEN and MIA. 2 teams who are way worse then their record says. All 3 of those teams fucking suck man. They aren't good teams. They aren't going anywhere this year. They're really just delaying the inevitable and all 3 of those teams came into this season with very high expectations. All 3 were expected to make the playoffs. Some even picked them to go to the Super Bowl. They aren't going anywhere. They'll all be watching the playoffs with The Browns.

Our expectations this year were nowhere near as high as those teams. If we had 3 wins right now all it would do is convince the fickle fans that everything is fine. How is having no wins but 5-6 competitive losses any different? How much is really different? If we won 3 games would Kizer be better at going through his progressions? Would Gregg Williams stop telegraphing his blitzes on 3rd down? Would our ST stop fucking up? Would Hue be better at clock management if we beat TEN by 3 in regulation? The answer is no dude.

Most teams who have picked 1st overall the past....like 30 years have made an immediate improvement. Somehow, the Browns got worse.

I think that most of these teams that do this are talented, relatively built and had a difficult schedule the previous year. The next year they benefit from a weaker schedule.

But no, 1 win in 1.5-2 years is not acceptable

Again, that's all I'm saying.
Gotta start showing some progress.
And they ain't showing it.

But they have shown progress. It just hasn't resulted in wins. The problem is you are only basing what you think is progress only on wins and losses. I explained to you before how simply pointing at wins and losses doesn't explain everything.

And you're only judging progress on wins and losses. On a team that's tanking and rebuilding. Would it be progress if we finish the season with 2 wins and the 32nd offense and 32nd defense? Would just winning more games than last season be progress? No it would not.
Good teams find ways to win even with bad offense and defense performances. Even with an average defense they still can't find a way to win because they are poorly coached and mental midgets.

You could make the case that the first 5 games last year was the best stretch of football in this horrific two year stretch. They actually played well vs Baltimore and Miami and Washington. It was a lot more acceptable because it was year one that they were losing games that were competive before they turned into expansion football the last 9 games. I will give you that they at least looked like a non expansion team today, but that is a pretty low bar two years in with two off seasons to add talent.

They are the ones that decided not to keep Mitchell Swartz, Travis Benjamin and Gabriel and not draft players like Wentz and sign Kenny Britt. They are the ones that are counting on a player who is three years out of the league to be thier best play maker and save them from 0 and 16. No one expected 10 wins in year one or year two. But you are worse than the 3 and 13 team two years ago under Pettine. Plain and simple.

First, the Browns were arguably missing their top three players today (Gordon, Thomas, Collins). Second, Corey Coleman screwed us, Njoku screwed us, and Hue called a bunch of garbage plays and had another terrible challenge. And third, it's a young team.

I still think the FO has done a great job except for the Peppers pick. Remember Hue worked out Wentz and didn't want him.

Hue is a shitty coach.
