To be fair injuries were a huge factor with Kessler and RG3. With Kessler there seemed to be an issue with him not going downfield the way Hue wanted him to but who knows, and Hue had McCown to step in which was also a factor.
I don't know if Hue's strategy is the right one, I'm just saying I can understand what he's trying to do. I don't agree that you just keep trotting a guy out there and never pull him off the field if his performance is directly causing us to lose games. That would be the quickest way to have the whole team quit on him. Hue has to keep trying to pull strings to give us a chance to win and that has driven his decisions.
I think the light will go on for Kizer at some point. Hopefully sooner rather than later. The season could look a lot different once that happens, as long as the team keeps playing hard for Hue.
I want to see some continuity and I don't see how changing coaches every 2 years gets us anywhere. But it is certainly a valid argument that if Hue completely fails to make Kizer into a reliable quarterback, why would you let him be involved in the next go-round? So I can agree that Hue's status for next year is probably tied to Kizer's development, as much as I wish for continuity.
I want continuity too. I really hope Hue goes to the front office to go look for a OC to give play calling to or promotes someone to do it. His time could be better spent coaching up Kizer on the sideline than playcalling and making adjustments. I really think that's the reason he is pulling him. Hue just doesn't have the time to coach him up till after the game. With 9 games left I think Hue can salvage his job by giving up playcalling and adding QB coach to his job description.
