Carter Almost A Cavalier?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The articles written of late saying that Wally won't be shipped, have some degree of merit. We absolutely won't do anything to mess with the chemistry on this team, unless we have available to us, something that will unquestionably improve the overall quality of our team moving forward.

This degree of chemistry is tough to achieve, and we do believe our chances at a championship are far far better than at any time last season. We feel we're the best team in the Eastern Conference right now. But, getting the homecourt is a key advantage to us.

Disrupting the chemistry in a big way, that may cause some step back in our team even for the short term, could cost us a chance at the home court ...so we are going to be extremely careful in what we do.

I like a few of the options I've heard about very much, but, they all require some tinkering to make it become a match. Most seem to need a third team to step in a smoot things out.

But, we're also remaining patient, because another option which Danny prefers to wait on, could present itself in a little while, as of yet it hasn't ...but, the way things are going, we may see a key team change it's directionc from now, to later ..and if that happens we could see the player of our dreams come available, and it would work perfectly for us, in my opinion,...and the high ups.

But, we just have to hold on and wait it out ...I think something is going to eventually happen, but, if nothing does ...we'll still be a great shape in my opinion.

I will say this, though ....an injury of any length to a big man could really mess with us, and we might want to protect ourselves for that possibility ...

So our dream man ISNT Vince Carter? Is he a better player or just a better fit?

Bosh? lol oh wait its probably Joe Smith...

I know they like the chemistry, and don't get me wrong i love it too. But Wally is not bringing much to this team right now. Someone like Battier could be good and wouldn't affect the chemistry imo....

I really doubt we'd trade for Battier, let alone him be available...

BW keeps reiterating it: we won't likely use Wally unless it's for a big piece that will likely be the key to a championship... He's not saying Wally won't be used on a role player but he's saying, they'll most likely use it on a player to put them completely over the top...

As far as that guy that would be available, that W&G is talking about... Maybe:

Caron Butler
Vince Carter
Chris Bosh
Amare Stoudemire
Andre Iguodala

Some guys that fit that mold, possibly...

I just hope Ferry will be able to attain a big man to fill in for now for a small piece like Eric Snow (I think we could get a TE or something), Sasha Pavlovic, a TE, a draft pick, etc.,..

Weekend Dime: More Wally

Looks like we could try to acquire Carter or Jamison? I know alot of people here don't want Jammy cause of his contract, but I still think he'd be good for us for atleast the next two years and still be able to contribute the two after that.

As discussed here last week, it's quite possible the Cavs will elect to hang onto Wally Szczerbiak's $13.8 million expiring salary instead of dealing Szczerbiak -- as many teams expected coming into the season -- before the Feb. 19 trading deadline.

The thinking: Cleveland is rolling too smoothly, with Mo Williams clicking immediately, and with Szczerbiak and Ben Wallace looking far more settled than they did when they arrived in February, to change too much midstream.

The exception? If the Cavs can turn Szczerbiak's contract into something big and bold.

"Like a trade for Vince Carter," one rival executive said. "That's a name on their list."

The Cavs certainly have room for at least one more top contributor in the frontcourt as well as the backcourt, but saving the Szczerbiak chip for an All-Star caliber name such as Carter or Antawn Jamison feeds into the team's primary objective. Which, of course, is sparing no expense to make the roster as enticing as possible to discourage LeBron James from looking anywhere else in the summer of 2010.

At worst, it's Cleveland's 1A mission, right up there with its dreams of dethroning Boston as early as this spring.

Edit: BTW, I don't really follow Windhorst's articles but I remember when he debunked the Marion trade rumor he said he'd be coming out with more info in the coming weeks about the Cavs wanting to make a "home-run" trade with Wally. Any stuff from him yet?

Do you think we could consider someone like Collison. They just signed Kristic, and Collison is a really solid big. Maybe Pavs with a combination of Kinsey or Wright could land us Collison.

Re: Weekend Dime: More Wally

This is posted already in the carter thread over in the trade ideas section... W&G weighed in on this topic already.

W&G, if you don't want to answer please don't but...would you say that the Cavs are the team that need to add to their trade offers, or do other teams need to add to them (in reference to discussed trades that need tinkering?)? Of course, it may be about 50/50, so the question may be pointless. Thanks!

Anyway, it's definitely very comforting to know Ferry has just about the perfect mindset right now. Don't jump on any trade just because it may make us better, as it is most important to keep in mind our amazing team chemistry. Having said that, I agree with many people that losing just Wally and maybe someone else on the Sasha/Kinsey/Jackson level may not be a HUGE hit to our team chemistry (especially since Ferry is so big on acquiring class acts and guys he thinks will fit in very well). And especially if there's a chance Wally is bought out and returns to the Cavs. I can't wait to eventually hear some of the names who may be on our list...perhaps Carter, Jamison, Butler, Camby, G. Wallace, Redd, M. Miller, and some extremely huge reaches like Bosh? Should be interesting once some rumors start floating around - although I'm not sure if that'll happen sooner or more towards February.

The thing is that Collison has 3 more years left on his deal with about $5.5 million per year... While he's a solid player, I don't think it's worth taking on that type of contract... I mean I think if we were to get a big man, it'd be a guy that could score or be a future next to JJ... Collison just doesn't really fit into what we want to do now or in the future, IMHO..

Here's the guys that I think we might try to target or I'd try to target:

Channing Frye
Stromile Swift
Darko Milicic
Ike Diogu
Chris Wilcox
Mikki Moore
Brian Cook

The thing is that we're not like to have much to offer, so they have to be guys that wouldn't take much to get... Unless we get a big in a deal with Wally... I just wish Presti would cut Joe Smith so we could sign him... :(

If he were to be bought out, I wonder how likely it is he signs with the Cavs. There's always a chance he signs with Boston, Orlando, LA, or someone else. I'd guess (and hope) he'd be most interested in the Cavs since we're currently by far the best team he's played with before. But I dunno, I would probably die if he were to end up in Celtic green somehow.

i would be really piss if we do keep wally...im so not a big fan of him and as much as we are really balling this season we can really do with another all-star caliber piece to 90% secure a ship

wow so we still have interest in VC and now jamison

I just wonder who the incredible player is were interested in.......Id do anything to know (sigh) I really wish I knew some insider info sometimes......

The player of our dreams? I can only think of Bosh and Amare, even Jamison. Raps/Wiz/Suns all came into the season hoping to be a title contender but Raps haven't worked out, Wizards are too riddled with injuries and doing really bad, and the Suns window is rapidly closing. I think the most likely out of those three is Jamison. Feb 19th seems so far away...
