CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Lakers free-agent forward Earl Clark, who played for coach Mike Brown last season in Los Angeles, reportedly is visiting Cleveland on Tuesday as the Cavs ease into the free-agent market.

Neither the Cavs nor Clark's agent, Kevin Bradbury, would confirm the report to The Plain Dealer, but Bradbury did retweet a post from Sporting News' Sean Deveney announcing the workout.

Clark, a 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward from Louisville, averaged 7.3 points and 5.5 rebounds last season, when he played 56 games and started 36.

In other free agent news, the Lakers reportedly reached out to Wayne Ellington, and the Brooklyn Nets reportedly reached out to Shaun Livingston.

Thoughts People?

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

I've seen a lot of people question our interest because he's traditionally been a SF/PF. However, I see him as purely a SF on this team. He can defend the position and we don't need our SF to handle the ball since we have Irving and Waiters.

He's a nice player in the right role.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

Think he could be a solid addition for a minor contract!

I think this would be better in Trade/Free Agency thread because its so specific.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

think we would be an excellent addition...he really showed some flashes last yr with Gasol out... I think he could definitely play SF here as well as the PF if need be

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

I wouldn't oppose for the right price. Adds more size and lineup options (PF) than Gee.

He would be an upgrade IMO, although a small upgrade, at the SF position over Gee.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

I doubt the Cavs would be looking to bring him in if he wasn't going to playing heavy minutes at the SF position. We don't have much use for another young PF. Good shooter and has the tools to be a very good defender. I hope we can snag him tomorrow.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

Played for Mike Brown....for 5 games

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

He would give the Cavs a potential starter at the three, more depth and better trade flexibility down the road. I like Gee, but wouldn't be opposed to Grant shipping him out.

Clark seems to be able to make open jumpers though. That alone makes him a better offensive option than Gee.:chuckles:

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

I also think clark can do a great job at teaching Bennett how to play SF. As weird as it sounds. Clark is a pretty good defender for his lack of elite quickness.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

Before January 9th of this year, Clark had attempted 10 three pointers in his career (which began in 2009), connecting on two of them.

From January 9th until the conclusion of the regular season (a little over three months)? 104 attempts, 35 makes.

I'm pretty sure D'Antoni threatens to castrate power forwards who do not attempt three pointers.

Gee's not a bad jump shooter... ?

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

Not sure he's even an upgrade over Gee. Maybe? It's barely a move.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

Clark only makes sense if the price is right. He was pretty bad his first 3 seasons before stepping up a little last season. Worth taking a chance on and his size and game could fit but not a move to get too excited about and should only be a shorter contract.
