Re: Cavs sign Earl Clark for 2yrs/$9M

Gotta dump Earl Clark. Brown will want to give him the back-up PF minutes and we can't let that happen. Grant has got to find a way to get this guy off the team. As low as I am on Bennett, I'd rather him get those 15-20 minutes a night at the back-up 4 than Clark get any. Bennett has been bad, but he's young and there is some hope. Clark is just bad and will not get better.

Re: Cavs sign Earl Clark for 2yrs/$9M

With the Deng signing, will Mike Brown make Clark a backup 3 (sounds sketchy), backup 4 (which will put Bennett on the bench), or just sit him and let Gee play 3 and Bennett play 4?

With the 3-guard lineup as successful as it was, I don't think there are any minutes left for Clark and Gee at SF. Thankfully.

I'd wager Mike Brown only ran the 3-guard line-up out of necessity and it isn't his preference. He's probably going to put that thing to bed. Besides, he never played the correct 3rd guard, which was Delly over Jack, so I'm ok with it being put to bed.

The fact that even Rich wants to play Bennett over Clark should say something. :chuckles: Let's get rid of this scrub in any way possible.

I do think Brown ran the 3 guard lineup out of necessity but it has proven somewhat effective. Clark should never play the 3 again.

I still wish Karasev would play.

I'd rather see Karasev as backup 3 in limited minutes and Bennett as backup 4 (since Clark has no future with the team).

But I am expecting 3-guard lineup (since Brown knows what to expect with t now) and Clark at backup 4 because, well, Brown.

Maybe the new Cavs will actually beat some teams soundly on occasion, making time for the youngsters.

Re: Cavs sign Earl Clark for 2yrs/$9M

Someone else posted this elsewhere on RCF, but a Clark for Motiejunas swap would be pretty swell. Get rid of Clark, free up minutes for Bennett, have a young C to groom, and he should feel welcome with Z here.

Re: Cavs sign Earl Clark for 2yrs/$9M

The problem with Clark is that we may need his salary for another trade if we plan to make one. He's 4.5 million of expiring contract to deal in a trade for a player who doesn't suck. That's why I don't see the team getting rid of him yet.

It was successful because it was the only way to get 5 semi-legit NBA players on the court at the same time.

Yeah, it's a pain. Need to think of a way to get him off the active roster without cutting him. Maybe Chris Grant can pay an assistant coach's wife to seduce him? It worked the first time...
