Cavs in dicussions with Bucks for Redd AND Charlie V....

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
redd has a player option for 2010-2011, doubt he passes that up its like 19M.

I don't either, but then again, it does make sense for both teams. If Redd doesn't work out, then he is off the books in 2010 and we still can keep Vilanueva.
You do however appear to have a vested interest in this thread...;)

Losing Ben and Sasha are not a loss at all. Varejao is a huge loss on defense though. If this were to happen the Cavs would obviously be after a solid defender...BIRDMAN

Varejao is gone already... he's an unrestricted free agent.

Love the deal, Love it so muchhhhhhhhhhh. do it ferry.

What station/show was it on sirius?

I'm not sure how I feel about this, didn't Mo and Redd not work that well together in Milwaukee? And, I might be the biggest fan of Charlie V. on the board, but that leaves us with a very defensively weak front court.

I'll pass :thumbdown ....Mo's too important to our team to bring in trouble for him; this is what I read from a Milwaukee basketball blog after the trade last year: SOURCE
1) The trade removes a potential headache in Mo. This is not a criticism of Mo as much as it is a recognition of bad blood that exists on the Bucks roster from previous losing seasons. It was apparent at the games that Mo no longer had much tolerance for "the Michael Redd show" and invested part of his final season as a Buck in proving to anyone who cared that he was just as prolific a scorer as Redd. Bucks fans have seen quite enough of the Mo-Redd backcourt, and Hammond and Skiles were wise not to reboot it for one more run. In Brewhoop's estimation, Mo was "the odd man out" when it became clear that Redd was staying after the Jefferson trade.

Don't believe it. Not without proof. I heard from alot of sources last year that Redd was not on our list, and someone said that was because Redd and Mo had on-court friction.

And if it was true, I'm not sure if it's that great. And I just wanna say noone in Ohio loves Mike Redd more than me, fantastic competitor, great guy, fantastic heart. But Mike just came off a huge knee injury at the age of 29, and his injuries have become more and more frequent. We get him and Charlie V and we become an even more jumpshooting team. I'd hate that personally.

Hell yeah I do! LMAO. I'm pumped if this rumor has any merit to it. I also want to see if anybody else is on this bandwagon as well. :D

Finally....some FACTS. Thank you.;)

Redd does NOT expire after next year people....

He has an option for $18+ miillion dollars. Anyone who thinks he's leaving more than $18 million on the table is a darn fool....

I don't know about this one....makes some sense.....not sure I like it though.

I'm assuming it would mean the Cavs look to use their MLE on a big man who could backup Z? leaving Charlie V and either Darnell or JJ at the 4.

Still don't know WHY Varejao would give up his free agency to go to Milwaukee.....that doesn't make sense to me.

I could see a possibility of this happening but there is no way AV is in this deal. Redd just came off an injury and Charlie doesnt truely answer our questions on defense. Giving up AV is in this type of deal doesnt seem like a smart move.

I agree with a previous poster, saying Gadzuric would be the unnamed player. Gadzuric spent a lot of time on the bench the last few years, but actually came on strong the second half of this season and looked like a decent 18 mpg guy.

The problem with this deal is assuming Milwaukee wants to take on salary in the form of Varejao (probably a lot of it) instead of just taking on a lot of salary with Villa. Also, we have to assume that Varejao would agree to a S&T to an obviously rebuilding team. He'd get his starters minutes, that's for sure. But he certainly would be years away even from a shot at the playoffs.

Lastly, the Cavs would absolutely HAVE to bring in a post-up option with their MLE after this deal. This completely rids us of our bigger tradeable assets, the only guy left that we'd look to put on the block is Boobie, and there's not a lot of post players available for $5 mill in a trade. The Cavs would have to look to sign Sheed or Bass with the MLE, and if it's Bass then we no longer have a backup center.

I'd rather have a wing player that can seemlessly move between the 2 and 3 with some length and defensive ability. I hate the idea of Redd at this point even if it did land Charlie. I'd be more open to Richard Jefferson because he at least at one point had a rep for being a good defender.

So we'll start the old Milwaukee back court that never really worked out and then add villanueva as well? Give me Jefferson and/or CV over any package centered on Redd

I just heard this on my sattelite radio. The trade would send Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, our 1st Round Pick, and A.V. to Milwaukee for Charlie V., Michael Redd, and a player to be named. Apparently, the Cavs and Bucks have been discussing this since last week. Did anybody else hear this besides me? What are your thoughts on this if true?

Don't think you can include sign-and-trade players in a trade package. They have to be the only outgoing piece in a trade.

Jefferson would be a better deal then Redd, but I don't think Milwaukee wants to part with him. Redd is a no-brainer if this is true. It's a win-win situation for Milwaukee. They get rid of Redd (his injuries and his salary) plus Gadzuric (I think he would be the other piece) and his hefty contract for some cap relief. Only problem is we don't know if A.V. would agree to it and/or how much he'd be willing to take. I just don't see Varejao thriving without LeBron James on the same team. His value will plummet if/when he is traded. But that's a whole other discussion.:chuckles:
