Cavs & Miami talking? (BW, Broussard: not true)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs & Miami talking?

Don't know if this is good news, or bad news. If Danny Ferry and the gang believe this current team will win us a title, they got another thing coming.

Shawn Marion should probably be a option if Redd and Carter are off the table, IMO. He wouldn't be a bad fit, but I'd hate to lose Andy. I'd be more comfortable with losing Wally + Two first rounders, if possible.

I think he would be a great fit. But just not over AV. Seriously we are in trade talks. Of course we wouldn't come right out an tell people that we are talking to other groups. we want the most out of Wally we can get.

This writer has to be very embarrassed at the fact that all of these other sources are coming out saying this is false. Whatever little credibility the guy had went down the drain.

Re: Cavs & Miami talking?

The injured player trade exception is something most people have not talked about much. I don't know exactly how it works, but we can bring in a player with half the salary of the injured player I think. So, that would give us another 3.5 million in wiggle room when we deal Wally, so salaries don't have to match so well. That is a good point Mdog.

Since someone said they heard a rumor that doesn't include Av I will say that I saw on NBA.com that someone suggested it was actually Ben Wallace and not AV or Wally that might be traded.

Hm Wallace for marion straight up works I think. It kind of works for Miami because they do need a C and there D is not terribly great. It works for us because Marion is every thing that BW is but he can score. Well I wouldn't mind that trade at all now that I think about it. Wallace hasn't played C for us any way so it isn't like SM needs to take his place in the lineup.

Mo
DW
LBJ
Marion
Z

or

Mo
LBJ
Marion
AV
Z

Any way to the player exception, I am not 100% on how those work. I think it was Lee I talked to the other day about it and I don't think that we can't trade it in combination with another piece aka Wally. So we can't i don't think trade Wally + the exception for him. Maybe we could do a Snow + Sasha and cash + picks deal because that would work financially.

B Windy comes through with the good news. Thank god, Ferry isn't that stupid.

This rumor was clearly bogus from jump street, but what a sagely move by Fegan to dangle this rumor.

He was able to gauge the interest-level on Varejao in a prime market (with cap room) Andy is reportedly interested in months before his contract is up. Fegan now has a little more ammunition in Ferry vs. Fegan II, after showing up to a gunfight with a switchblade in the last negotiation. He also managed to drum up some trade deadline interest on a client (Marion) who was plummeting faster than Ford Motor Company.

Ounces of added respect in my book, gallons of added annoyance. He will not allow this offseason to get too cordial.

Re: Cavs & Miami talking?

This one has me scratching my head. Why would the Cavs get rid of two key rotation plays to get a guy that has been underperforming? AV is already a good defensive big, we're trying to get an offensive banger for cheap. We would be giving up too much to get him here.

You are looking at it the wrong way. Wally isn't really a "key rotation" player. He's garbage and is playing by default. The trade is really about AV for Marion. It's alot easier to fill Wally's role than it is AV. Actually getting Wally off the team is almost addition by subraction because this guy is a pathetic basketball player far as I'm concerned. Giving up AV is what I'm not sure about because IMO, AV is the most important player off the bench hands down. But on the business side, one must also consider the fact that AV is still not signed after the season and may not get re-signed at this point. And I said earlier in the year, despite AV's play, if you're not going to sign him then you MUST TRADE him and get something back. Even though I like AV a lot, I don't think he is the difference in beating Boston. With or without AV, I think we still can lose to Boston. For all AV's defensive abilities, he cannot and will not contain KG, period.

But this is a difficult choice though. I would try to see what else the Cavs could get with a Wally/AV offer. Marion is a very talented individual and he could be the difference. His numbers dropping in Miami doesn't mean anything because every player doesn't fit in every system(see Larry Hughes). Getting Marion is almost like the Mo' trade, no one really know's his impact until he's here and we see the product on the floor.

JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE TRADE RUMOR IS FALSE. Cavs and Heat havent been talking because Cavs don't want to ruin any chemistry. JUst letting you guys know.

I disagree to an extent...Andy is very much a person who gets under KG's skin. He has done it in the past and frustrates KG to no end. He is one of the few defenders who doesn't take KG's crap and KG doesn't know how to handle that. He may not contain KG from a standpoint of shutting him down offensively but from the games I have seen Andy guard KG, KG seems to be more frustrated than usual and it shows in his play.

Did you see the Cavs/Celtics series last year? KG pretty much did what he wanted to do correct? AV cannot guard KG. When KG get's the ball at the high post and turn and face the basket, AV is in trouble in he know's it and everyone on the Cavs bench knows it. AV doesn't have the lateral movement to guard the foot work of a KG. I think u are getting this confused with the AV/Rasheed Wallace match-up. IMO KG can take AV any time he wants so getting under his skin is here and there.

Really no one guards kg well, and I dont see marion having a shot either. If I remember correctly, he abused Lebron the few times he was switched on him on a pick. We need to get a team together that can stop Allen (did that) and Pierce (not so great)...if you can do that, you let Garnette beat you and hold everyone else in check. Easier said than done ofcourse.

Welcome back from your ban. Remember that AV was nursing a bad ankle in the playoffs. Say hi to your mother for me.
