Cavs Negotiating Deal with Matt Barnes (signs w/ Lakers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Barnes left a lot of money on the table to get that done. Hopefully it'll be worth his while. The stronger teams continue to get stronger.

Re: Cavs Negotiating Deal with Matt Barnes

Thank God...

I'd look for Delonte to be traded for a SF now...

Don't be so sure about that. The way things are going(not that I'm disappointed in Barnes signing with LA), I look for Delonte to be...well, probably in a Cav's uni this year. For a lack of a better...ur um...any option.

Woj:

Cavs wouldn't raise Barnes' offer beyond $7 million guaranteed over 2 seasons, sources say. Lakers expect to receive a signed deal tonight.

Job well done, Grant...
Agree. Grant held firm--glad he didn't expand that generous offer more and overpay for Barnes, who's a decent SF but nothing to get on about, as the Beatles say.

Thankfully, just about all the good FA talent is off the table and we can focus where the focus should be: on trades for young talent and draft picks. Only vet I'd like to see if it's a defensive 5 somehow in a trade.

I'm expecting this delonte deal to go down tonight or tomorrow since the cavs know they can move on from barnes now.

Now that Matt Barnes is out of the way I say we trade for/go after anybody under the age of 27. No more of bringing in these 30 year old men that just want to get paid. Pile on the youth and see what we can get out of them.

good start for this regime. started with the sign and trade of judas and now not overpaying for matt barnes. now lets see what delonte's contract can net us

Nice job, Matt. Went from $9 million from Toronto to $7 million from the Cavs to $3.6 million from the Lakers. If he had stayed on the market any longer he might have been paying somebody to play for them.

Definitely. I like em young, long, and lean. Which is why I'm all for Harrison Barnes.

Some group by the name of NAMBLA keeps trying to contact me for some odd reason...

Have to laugh that we have a 31 page thread about Matt Barnes. We're not too desperate for some type of move are we?

No great loss. Have thought that the players still left in free agency are only worth giving 1 year deals.
If Cavs want a SF with some experience Rasual Butler, Jarvis Hayes, and Antoine Wright are still available and for far less than Barnes. I might look at Butler now. Market has thinned out and the money has dried up. If you can get him for 1 year it might be worth it.

first artest and now barnes... lakers are gonna be a big gang of bloods soon

After Barnes' Toronto experience, I might hold off on dealing for that SF until the league signs off on the deal if we're truly that interested in him. For all we know, Barnes could be getting ready to twat that he's going to the Lakers for Kareem

Time to burn this....

prod

(NBA wouldn't let me make a 22)

Who would have thought Matt Barnes = 31 pages. How many pages did JamarioSafari go last year?

Here's to this ending here, with no page 32.

Now he gets to win a title. I can't blame him, although it's frustrating how people just want to go to the same goddam teams.

Wright signed with the Kings earlier today; Hayes is talking with the Celtics...
I'd rather go young...
