Cavs setting sights on Jaric

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jaric would be a great fit here. He's got good all around game, is big, and don't forget young! He's three years younger than Saras. The injury history is concerning, but I'd be happy with Jaric. The advantage with Saras is superior shooting and price tag.

Anyway, I didn't really have anything new to add to this thread, I just had to give props to LEBRON'S_PIPPEN's for his sig.

I haven't seen Jaric play all that much, but I remember one game last year against the Cavs when he was a no-show--didn't do a damn thing. Is it possible that he's another Welsch, with an injury problem to boot? My gut tells me that Sarunas is the better option--better perimeter shooter, a pressing need we still have to fill, and cheaper, or so we're told.

lets get 1 thing straight Jaric isn't Jiri, you can tell because they look different in their pictures on NBA.com . although their names are similar and that picture thing could be the biggest scam in NBA history.

Marko Jaric is a point guard that can play both guard positions

Jiri Welsch is a shooting guard/small forward that can play some point.

Different molds.

Don't forget that Marko can actually shoot the ball. That's something Jiri left behind in 2003-04.

he played one game against us in L.A. when Brand killed us...I thought he had a good game...maybe I'm thinking wrong.Game two in Cle was Livingstons turn at PG as Jaric was out with the foot injury.Well I like Marko...and he gets steals too.

Don't let the one game fool you. Jaric is a tough player who brings it. Despite his shooting % he's a good outside shooter but the percentage are down becuase with the Clips he often had to take bad shots at the end of the shot clock. He can guard 3 position and he play well with and without the ball which is big since we have both Hughes and Lebron.

The only concern is injuries. Every year the Clips seems to be on the verge including last year and then Jaric goes down with an injury. His health is a big reason why they've looked so tantalizing good but then falter at the end. He isn't Welsch that's for sure. No one will describe jaric as soft: he's a mean dude

Maybe I'm recalling a Clippers' game against someone other than the Cavs. In any event, I shouldn't be making too many inferences based on one game where he stunk. But I will stick with my original instinct, which is that Sarunas is a better bet for us than Jaric.

The Clippers really have no need for him, especially considering all the money they spent on several Free Agents. Also, now that livingston is gonna be healthy, he should definitly start to get a lot of playing time considering how much potential he has.

Jaric also has a huge height advantage against most PGs, which would be nice. With the talk now shifting towards Jaric, does this mean we gave up on Sarunas?

the one thing about sarunas is his success is with the ball in his hands. shooting and on the break. i could see him having trouble bringing the ball up the court against many points in the league. that puts the ball back in lebron's hands again just like last year. we need players that take pressure off james not put it back on. i know sarunas is a winner but it's a definate gamble. jaric is what he is. does his numbers go up playing with lebron. maybe. does his height and ability on defense to guard a 1,2, and possible 3 give the cavs more flexibility. jaric is more of a know quantity. the money doesn't work out tho. marshall and jaric = bye bye gooden

After the Marshall signing the only way to get Jaric is either through a sign and trade or the Cavs trading Gooden for picks to create more cap space.
I do think Jaric is probably gone from LA but it would be tough for the Cavs to get him at the price it will take.

I wouldn't have a problem with Jaric being added though. He is a versatile player and would give the Cavs great size on the wing. The Bulls were pretty successful witth that strategy. The biggest problem liek has already been mentioned is the rumored price for Jaric. I wouldn't give him a 5 year $40 million contract. That's way too much. His injury problems are a bit of a concern too. If the price is right though he would be a solid addition.

The sign and trade has been talked about but I hadnt thought of getting picks for Drew...

As I have stated in previous threads, I would like to see us with someone other than Gooden in the starting lineup this year so any scenario that sees us picking up something for Gooden looks good to me.

I like the idea of getting some picks for Gooden, especially considering that we are running out of them for years to come. I bet we could get a mid-round 1st round pick for him. What do you guys think?

With Jaric becoming less likely, do Cleveland turn their attention to a player they have expressed interest in with Steve Blake? Not high on my list, but he does have the fundamental skillset that we are requiring in our point guard.

No you're right aaron, I was at that game. Shaun Livingston played PG all or most of the game, Jaric played very little or was out with injury. I remember that game because I wanted to see Bobby Simmons and he didn't play either.

I'm not down on Jaric but haven't seen him play much, but he's after Saras, Stoudamire, and Antonio Daniels on my wish list. However I think we're out of money anyway, aside from sign and trades.
