Cavs setting sights on Jaric

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Karma, I wouldn't be happy if the FA addition at PG was Blake. He should be a 3rd string PG. I'd prefer soemone like Tyronn Lue over someone like Blake.
I'm hopeful something wil get done to either create space to sign a decent FA PG or acquire one through a trade.

There's still a chance that there might be enough cap room left for a Sarunas signing. It all depends on the 1st year salaries of Z, Hughes and Marshall and also what the final total salary cap number comes out too. The NBA still hasn't released the new figure and teams aren't 100% sure what cap number they'll get to use. It could be anywhere from $48 to $52 million.

Marko Jaric had a game early in the year against us where he looked great ...shot the ball very well, and ran the offense very powerfully ....that is the game that was out in LA. Later on in the year the Clippers came to Cleveland and they (the Clips) had numerous team injuries, including Jaric. He played but probably under normal circumstances wouldn't have and shouldn't have ....but was kinda forced to due to the number of other players on the team that were injured and couldn't play. Not surprisingly, he looked terrible and contributed hardly anything. I think, if I remember right ...he was suffering from a strained quad. But, I like Jaric's game and he'd be another versatile player that can play some D on the perimeter, and also give us some offense as well. He's a streaky shooter ... But, to get this guy we'd have to pull off a sign and trade with the Clips ...and my guess is we'd likely try and put together Gooden and Sasha for Wilcox and Jaric. Makes sense from our perspective and the Clippers as well, I think. Thoughts ???

I do agree Narl. My thoughts were if the cap doesn't raise to our expectations and we horrifyingly miss out on Sarunas. Blake is a backup plan if we have little money. I like Lue as he brings energy and can really push the ball. Blake is more a shooter and is a tad slow. Pick your poison.

We do have the dough to land Sarunas, we have 3.5 million minimum if the cap is 49m it may be a little more up to 52 I heard. The deal we reportedly struck with Sarunas is starting at 2 million for this year with 12% increases. Here is the salaries reported as of yesterday..

Zydrunas 9 million...
Larry 10.3 million
Sarunas 2 million
Donyell 4 million

We still have around 3 million left to get a big maybe 2 or 2.5 million on Brandon Hunter, then add Lucas or Oyedeji using the vet minimum.

^Awesome to hear more clarification on the salaries are working out. :yay: I didn't see any of the summer league guys, but I'd send Danny Ferry begging Traylor on his hands and knees to come back at vet minimum.

^^I pimped Tyronn Lue some before, if the Saras deal goes thru then Lue would be an ideal 3rd guard. If Saras/Damon/Jaric/Earl Watson falls thru I'd have to go with Steve Blake the shooter over Lue. Having just Lue after Snow would be redundant. Hopefully it will not come to that though.

well it would have only cost 1.75 mil to pick up Traylor's option, wonder what he would want now?

Probably his market value, which would be around 3 year 10 mil. He took a paycut to play here under Silas

Yeah, but is there anyone who would be willing to pay him that much? I don't see that many teams who'd have the cap space and be playoff ready.

Edwin

Any team who would be bottom dwellers in Free Agency. I suppose he does want to win. If he wants to join a contender, he'll have to take the minimum. But I can see him in Seattle, Washington, perhaps even Minnesota. Anyone could use a cheap backup big man with toughness.

They are even talking about cancelling Marko's visit many saying since we have a verbal commitment from Sarunas that we wouldnt sign him. Akthough he could be Hughes backup if we dealt Drew in a deal with Sasha Luke or Newble.

if jaric does come in friday that makes me look at a s&t again. i know the clipps have elton brand at pf and have livingston at point. money money look at the money. we think gooden is gone maybe. but his contract is low for his value as a player.

snow and gooden for jaric and zelbraca (i think that's his name). reasons for both teams.

cavs get backup/starter at point to go with sarunas and backup center. jaric and zabraca are best friends. zabraca is 33, third string center behind a skinny kid that bounced around and found a home in LA. if forget his name but he has played well for them.

clipps get more scoring punch with gooden coming off the bench and a solid backup for livingston. signing jaric to a long term deal or matching another teams offer is not what there owner does very often. he has let numerous free agents go and jaric is not a premium player and he would get probably more than the clipps want to pay.

they just picked up mobley at shooting guard. he going to sign a pretty hefty contract.

snow's contract is for three years and that's probably the end of his real effectiveness. he still can run a team and play defense. teach livingston how to play d in the nba and his contract would run out sooner than jaric's. plus jaric lost his job already.

i think it's very possible. now tear me apart. i'm guessing contracts would be very close. snow 6 mill and gooden at 4 mill. jaric 7 mill maybe and rebraca's 2 to 3 mill (both guesses).

you know i was just thinking to myself what if a sign and trade could be worked out to get Jaric in Cleveland and Snow heads to LA. the Clippers might be willing to bring in guy to help with Livingston and Ewing as young and inexperience PG's. going into the season i would be happy with Sarunas and Jaric as the Cavaliers PG's.

Why must we give up on Snow so easily? Just because he can't hit his open jumpers doesn't mean that he doesn't belong. His intanglibles are irreplacable in this squad. We need veteran leadership on this team. Snow fits the bill perfectly, he's well-respected around the league. If we want another point guard, we have plenty that are on our summer roster to sign up to groom. Lucas III, Stepp, Gilchrist.

Saras AND Jaric would be a wet dream come true. Seems too good to be true.

Do you think that this deal is actual in the works with the Clips? I think there is a very good possibility that we might be trading Snow there or to another team, considering that managment probably knew that we were getting Sarunas when they began talks with Jaric. Now I don't know much about Marko Jaric but I'm assuming he can play 2 and or 3 as well as point, because his height makes him very versitial. That would be a really nice luxery to have in a player. That would be really exciting to have that much talent in the backcourt for next year. I'm fine now if we just sign Sarunas, but bringing in Jaric would just be icing the on the cake.
