Cavs summer league team

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can we realistically lose the pick this year, and then bottom out the next year? How bad is it for culture and player and team progression? it has to be way worse than bottoming out right away and then making the leap the next year right?

I think people are way to preoccupied on the atlant pick assuming it’s a sure fire all star. It’s not. I don’t see us being able to bottom out with cedi. Sexton nance zizic Clarkson nance Maybe Hood. Love. Just make trades of the vets for draft choices or young players and get better. This is not the team of samardo samuels

If Sexton is a star, last thing you want to do is make a midseason trade on Love.

the Atlanta pick it is what it is. none of Cavs FO decisions should be based on that pick.

Ive enjoyed the summer league so far. the players don't look like they are just playing overtheir heads they are showing some solid fundamentals that hopefully carry over into preseason.

you can tell they are happy with Cedi and that preston is being groomed for a back up roll.

Okaro white has been solid as well.

I think if Love stays, there is a big chance we re-sign him. No?

I would try to sell Love on adding a year to his deal and we try to make the playoffs. He never made the playoffs until he joined the Cavs. I think making the playoffs as the lead guy of the team would be huge for him.

Try to trade back for our pick and Bazemore is a legit guy who can play SF. I'd personally would try to move Hill for a different PG, one that can consistently score more, like Bledsoe. Most likely have to take Delly to get Bledsoe. That way we have a good 1-2 punch with Sexton coming off the bench. Maybe try to find a PF to swap for Clarkson. We can move Korver for a pick at that point.

Bledsoe/Sexton/Delly
Cedi/Hood
Bazemore
Love/backup PF
Zizic/Nance/TT

Bledsoe is on an expiring so if Sexton develops we can just let him walk next summer. Delly can be paired with Sexton off the bench to coach him up in game. Hood/Cedi/Bazemore can all play both SG and SF. I'm not sure who we can get as a backup PF, I'm still hoping Nance will surprise us with increased range.

All depends. If we finish with a top 10 pick this year, we have to repeat next year as well to keep the pick again. Do we really want the young guys/mixture of vets to embrace losing if they happen to gel and look like a 8th seed team? Now, that totally gets thrown out the window if/when the vets like love, hill, and korver start getting traded. Tank it up if that happens, but let the young guns still win 20-25 games if they can.

I've been seeing the draftniks on here saying that this next draft is kinda weak and the following year is stronger? Rather ensure we have our pick the following year if that's the case.

JMO but if we could pair Barrett or Reddish with the young guys we have then Holy Shit...also interested in seeing how Williamson's perimeter game looks this year ... And we have Ante but Bol is gonna be interesting as hell this year too

I'd want Sexton to start. Having Bledsoe with his similar game isn't going to help anyone.

Top ten pick next year is cool, but if you don't get it, you don't get it.

If we don’t get a top ten pick next year it will because cedi Sexton zizic nance Clarkson and whoever else are a lot better than we thought. Isn’t that better than they all suck and we get a top ten pick ?

Yeah I mean hitting on Sexton, Carter, and Zizic is better than getting the top 10 pick. If Nance and Clarkson ball out and Hood is just respectable, that is icing on the cake.

Let's see what these guys can do and freak out later.

My thinking is if we commit to winning and Love while getting our pick back from Atlanta, we would take the extra step to actually make a playoff push. If we are going to roll with Hill, I'd rather have Sexton start.

My idea was just to make the best possible team without giving up an assets. We actually gain assets back in that scenario. I also think it clears up some of our issues of having too many SGs and the need to fill the hole at SF. Also we won't have much committed to Bledsoe so if Sexton out plays him, you could reduce his minutes and let Sexton start.

We really need that pick, don’t care if everyone on the team looks like a future star.

We’re in the era of mass player movement and we are not a destination city, at all.

Our only avenue to talent is via trades or the draft. And trades only come from moveable assets.

In an ideal world, we are something like 8-9 odds (while being competitive) and then win the lottery or a top 3 pick.

Wow people are actually talking about winning and competing for playoffs? You guys want an eternally mediocre team like the Hawks or the Pacers? Only option here is to clean the deck of anyone over 24 and TANK. At least we have some fun young talent to watch already. But God. Dont want what you people are smoking.

I've experienced a solid like Okaro White. I usually had a lot of white rice, bananas, and other starchy foods before I took a solid Okaro White.

Nance is 25. Gonna be 26 January 1st. I would wanna keep Nance long term.

I too like Nance but his Crohns makes him a liability. He will only ever be an ancillary piece not in a core.

I mean, fatigue and low energy is one of the biggest symptoms. Not exactly what you bank on in future playoff series.

Preach, Boobster.

I know a lot of people had the red ass on draft night.

This is why it was smart to give him a chance, look and see what translates immediately, and factor in his work ethic.

This kid is a stud. He’s going to be an NBA stud.

He’ll have plenty of struggles this year, but the way he leads a team... the way he interviews... everything about him. He has star written all over him.
He has leader written all over him too.
