Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know....like I said, I am a little emotional....

The trade itself is okay...only okay...but I think you have to figure in the Eyenga failure, even if it was late 1st...because it was a late first in a deep draft, like the one coming up and the one we just traded for.

I just can't seperate the two.

The Eyenga fiasco is over. Shame we could have drafted someone who could actually play.

I'm sure Luke Walton in wine and gold will cheer me up.....

At least we got lucky and got Kyrie....thank god for that.:D

Alright...now I feel better!

The 2009 draft was deep?

so the Cavs just paid $6M for a late 1st when they are usually sold for $3M. lol.
jamison is still wearing a cavs uniform. lol.
nets traded a lottery pick for gerald wallace. lol.
nuggets traded an overpaid nene for a retard who will also be overpaid. lol.
howard decided to spend another year of his prime in orl where he has almost no chance to win a title. lol.

lotsa laughing about deals today

eta: forgot one!

clips traded for another chucker when they sorely need defense. lol.

Not this year.

I like how Triumph always talks a big game but he isn't any different from the rest of the armchair GMs on RCF. If you are so special than go out in the real world and run a fucking team. Milwaukee and Golden State are two teams you can start with.

2010: 25th sold to Dallas, 31st sold to OKC
2009: 29th sold to NYK, 32nd sold to HOU, 34th sold to HOU
2008: 27th sold to POR, 34th for cash and worthless 2nds

Was mostly laughing about how people will blindly praise Grant no matter what. He could've passed on participating in deadline day altogether and people would still be praising him and calling him a genius.

Not moving Jamison was dumb too, but I'll wait to really bash Grant until he isn't bought out.

But no matter how dumb overpaying for a 1st and not moving a worthless vet with no future value is, it is not as dumb as trading expirings plus a guaranteed lottery pick for Gerald Wallace. My lord. At this point I hope Deron goes to Dallas.

Do you know for a fact that they didn't try to buy picks in those yrs you bullet-ed?

I share the disappointment that AJ wasn't dealt but who knows what the offers were, assuming there were any real offers?

It takes 2 sides to deal....

The 30 and above are second round picks
I believe all the late first rounders were traded for cash plus second round picks.

The big thing is I don't think I see anyone buying a pick in 2011 (again this put into question whether one will be available this year) and we get to move up in next year's draft.
If a team does want to sell as well, we can still buy a pick this year as well. Normally you can only buy one pick per year so this gives us a chance to buy more if somebody is willing to sell

Lol wish we could have got that pick. Dwight really screwed us by signing into his ETO. If he hadn't the Nets may have been really desperate to ditch salary for next year. We could have helped them clear an additional 17 million by giving the Jamison. Fuck Dwight.

Pretty sure they are trying to make a run at the playoffs this year, and convincing D.Will to stay. Gerald is more appealing that Jamison, atleast to play with. That starting 5 isn't too shabby when healthy. Lopez/Hump/Wallace/Brooks/D.Will.

What happens if the lakers trade their pick next year?

We would still have the option to switch with whatever team actually is the owner of the pick. Today's trade imply's a condition on the pick that is pre-existing.

ESPNSteinLine: Source w/knowledge of Blazers' thinking says team has informed Greg Oden's camp that Oden is being waived for needed roster room after deals

We do have a roster spot open.

Either way, Kyrie should get about 35 minutes from here on out. Rookie of the year!

this is possibly the dumbest "insult" ever

how many players have you criticized? go play in the nba! ever criticize one of the espn writers? go become a famous nba journalist!!!!

seriously can't believe you'd stoop to something that flat out dumb without realizing it

yes I know picks in the 30s are in the second round. what is the difference between a pick that is 25-30 and one that is 30-35 except the guaranteed contract?

Pretty sure they are trying to make a run at the playoffs this year, and convincing D.Will to stay. Gerald is more appealing that Jamison, atleast to play with. That starting 5 isn't too shabby when healthy. Lopez/Hump/Wallace/Brooks/D.Will.
yes but they're 4.5 games out and lopez is out another 2(?) weeks. best case they get in as an 8 seed and get spanked.

or they could've held onto the pick and missed the playoffs (which they'll likely do anyway, but w/e) and told d-will hey look here's your shiny new rookie straight from the lottery. probably in the 6-8 range, too.

now if they want to keep him they have to pray they fall in the top 3

Fwiw, espn has the nets having traded a future protected pick for wallace, not this year's likely lottery pick.
