I'm not sure I would say his game doesn't translate. Sure thee have been flashy athletic players that didn't translate from Euro league to NBA. Cedi dribbles with a purpose, has a high motor and is assigned to defend the best players on the opposing team. His height, wingspan and crazy transition ability make him an asset against Warriors. He often ignites fast breaks with his high steal % and isn't necessarily a freak athlete but certainly above average.

Can we sign Korver then trade him to Spurs for Green? Defense and speed is what we need on the perimeter.

Spurs have cap if they wanted Korver they could sign him outright

Damn, thanks for the correction!

I'm wondering what the Spurs are planning. They missed big on CP3 and didn't have assets for PG. They're obviously in the same boat as us and might have been passed by the Rockets (not convinced of fit) in terms of contending with GSW in that now super loaded conference.

If we had a decent program for developing rookies/players i would oppose trading osman. But realistically, i cant see him having minutes with lue as the coach. Derrick williams who was a 2nd overall pick and an athletic big wingman barely played. So yeah, id trade osman for a rotation player that can play decent defense.

C'mon. If you take the best stretches out of every player, obviously his stats won't look as good!
You're correct, but there is something to be said for outliers drastically affecting numbers. You want consistency, because you can depend on it.

Will he be on the SL roster? Actually make the games interesting.

True.

But, you also have to consider the sample size of the player prior to it.

We aren't talking about some rookie or sophmore. We are talking about a seasoned pro who has been playing at top level for one of the best teams in the league. So, the "decline" isn't exactly as much as it is made out to be!

So is there any sign we are actually bringing him over this year?

What's his player comp?

Only two I could find were from less then reliable sources Bleacher Report and nbadraft.net

Hedo on BR Walt Williams/Jiri Welsch on nbadraft.net

This was before the draft though he's developed past couple of years

Small update from Vardon

"Osman is in Las Vegas again Saturday hanging out with the Cavs' front office. He will return to Turkey for a commitment to the Turkish national team, but, may apparently soon be back in Cleveland."

What's his player comp?

He's a 6'8" SG who is a plus defender. Not a great knock-down shooter but he forces you to respect his shot. He has a good handle and plays well in pick and roll.

I haven't seen many player comparisons but when I watch his highlight film I'm reminded of Nicolas Batum. A bit "herky jerky", good play-maker, and uses his size well.

He's only 22 years old....certainly if he developed into Batum level player, that'd be amazing. Unfortunately the Cavs have a horrible track record of developing young players (since becoming title contenders) and I'm not sure how Osman finds minutes with Smith, Korver, Green, and Shumpert (although it still sounds like Shumpert gets moved before season).

Will be interesting if they can get Osman to play in summer league and elevate his stock....

We know Griff loved him and I imagine that the remaining figures in the FO do as well.

He could very well be a player they want to keep around even if next season is another failure.

6'8 wings who can handle the ball, shoot, cut to the basket and play defense are the most valuable players in the league. I hope he continues to improve. We could have a huge steal here.
