You know that what will end up happening is we trade Cedi to the Spurs for Green. Green get's a season ending injury 10 games before the end of the regular season, and Cedi is rookie of the year.
Why would that be logical or consistent with any sort of existing trend?

Can we take a page out of the Warriors' book and actually try to develop some young guys off the bench? I'd be 100% against a Green for Osman swap. Green's shooting numbers have been bad for two seasons now. The writing is on the wall and the Spurs know it. We shouldn't be making any deals with the Spurs because I guarantee we're going to be on the losing end.

I'm not saying Osman amounts to anything but the unknown is worth more to me than Green in his current state(inefficient as fuck). We might as well just give Shumpert any minutes we'd give Green.

Green shot 39.7% on catch and shoot 3's at a 58.7% EFG last season.

Kevin Love shot 39.5% on catch and shoot 3's at a 56% EFG last season.

So Kevin Love's shooting numbers are bad then?

I don't think we're in a position to develop an international player. We need guys that have contributed to a Championship team, been coached properly, and provide a skillset that we've been lacking. Green for Cedi is about as big a no brainer for me as there is.

If the Spurs want him I'd automatically take him off the table lol

That's how petty I am

They must know something we don't

Except Green is declining fast and doesnt move the needle vs GS and Spurs contend while developing players GS had a 2nd round rookie playing meaningful minutes vs us in finals if the player is good enough to make an impact rookie or not let them play

2014 DRPM: 2.16 (#7 SG)
2015 DRPM: 2.93 (#1 SG)
2016 DRPM: 1.71 (#5 SG)

2014 Catch & Shoot: 44.9% 3PT, 65.2% EFG
2015 Catch & Shoot: 35.2% 3PT, 51.2% EFG
2016 Catch & Shoot: 39.7% 3PT, 58.7% EFG

I wouldn't say declining fast. He's been a top 7 DRPM SG in the last 3 seasons.

His shooting numbers bounced back this past season after a down 2015. 2014 you almost have to ignore. That was a historically great shooting season. He returned to his career averages in 2016-17 with solid defensive numbers.

People expecting Cedi to be that good right away are setting themselves up for disappointment.

Whenever Lebron leaves or retires we're going to have to go into complete rebuild mode. We're still in the position of having to do anything we can to win now. If Cheddar doesn't realistically help in that? Use him to get someone who can.

Lol at people being unwilling to trade an unproven prospect from Europe (whose game doesn't even seem all that likely to translate IMO) for one the best defensive guards on the planet who also can't be ignored since he is a real threat from deep.

I would trade him in the right deal but I don't think Danny Green is a game changer on this team but he is by no means an untradeable asset in my view

That's true but his eFG is a bit inflated by his November and December months where he was shooting an insane 68.1% and 76.9% respectively. Except for a 10 game spike in February his numbers were around what they were the year prior where he really struggled. That slump continued into the playoffs, where he really didn't shoot the ball well at all.

If I was trying to acquire Green it'd be more for his defense at this point. I don't think he's a guy you can count on to contribute consistently on offense.

And seeing guys like Butler, George, and Paul getting traded for young players with potential makes me want to hold onto a guy like Cedi who's a complete unknown right now. If I thought acquiring Danny Green would for sure give us the edge against GS, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I just don't. And again, I don't think Osman does either, but as a future asset/spot contributor I like him a lot more.

I'm not in favor of making win now moves that wouldn't put us over the top. Especially given the premium put on young players on good contracts at the moment.

C'mon. If you take the best stretches out of every player, obviously his stats won't look as good!

Some people are judging Green's poor performance in the playoffs to him dropping off. But from what I saw his drop in performance came after Leonard got hurt. Green was needed to shoulder a large share of the load left by Leonard's absence. Green is not a primary player, he's a complimentary player. If he only needs to be a role player he's better than just good enough.

I'm not sure I would say his game doesn't translate. Sure thee have been flashy athletic players that didn't translate from Euro league to NBA. Cedi dribbles with a purpose, has a high motor and is assigned to defend the best players on the opposing team. His height, wingspan and crazy transition ability make him an asset against Warriors. He often ignites fast breaks with his high steal % and isn't necessarily a freak athlete but certainly above average.

Can we sign Korver then trade him to Spurs for Green? Defense and speed is what we need on the perimeter.
