Championship Parade/Rally

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
800,000 is outrageously high. There are cities in the world where they would have 300,000-600,000 people living in it and the traffic would be insanely atrocious.

Man, this parade is going to be something! So excited!

I heard on the radio that on Sunday the traffic was so bad to get downtown that people were leaving there cars on the road and walking to the festivities. Can anyone confirm?

See? All I ever wanted was a ticker-tape parade, in my own hometown. Why did I have to wait over 40 years?

I was thinking of flying in for the parade, but if the 800K figure is accurate, I'm not sure how much I'd see. And even if the ceremony is held at First Energy Stadium, that only fits 67K. Is this worth it for people to travel in for?

They definitely shut down the highway exits to downtown early Sunday night because it was so insanely crowded.

CLEVELAND - Cleveland leaders from several city departments are scrambling to hammer out the final details on Wednesday's Cavaliers Championship parade through downtown on June 22.

Cleveland council president Kevin Kelley confirmed he expects parade details to be released early on Tuesday June 21.

Kelley told newsnet5.com he believes parade logistics will be much like the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade downtown, although expects attendance to be double the size.

"People should plan ahead, they should plan on getting down there early," said Kelley. "They should plan on either walking or having a transportation plan."

"You've got to remember if you're going to bring probably 500,000 people downtown, you want to make sure everybody is safe. You want to make sure the crowd is controlled. You want to make sure the property is properly cleaned up. You want to make sure there is a police presence."

East 4th? Packed in like sardines.

Same thing at the Clevelander and every other bar out there.

Was actually LESS crowded by the outdoor watch party if you can believe it!
One day I'm going to sit down and watch the video of everything that happened that night.

Still a little stunned right now to fully comprehend it, but I'm grateful I was there. I'll remember this summer for two things

-Being at the 100th Indy 500
-Watching my beloved city finally win a title with thousands and thousands of "family" members.

My transportation plan is a bike.

800k can’t be accurate...you’d literally pack all 3 stadiums and every street in Cleveland a couple times over.

I know the city is rocking right now, but that seems borderline impossible. I planned to make the 2 hour trip north to be there, but 800k? That would mean total chaos.

It can't be that packed. If it is, I might have to review my options.

The Newsnet article estimated 500k. Still pretty, uh, full.
