Championship Parade/Rally

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's your guys plans tomorrow? I can't imagine driving and getting a parking spot downtown. Thinking about taking the bus in and out.

Damn...these numbers are going to make this an awesomely enjoyable hot mess.

My 4 yo daughter wanted to go, but that now seems like it would be impossible.

My plan, if I go, would be to park at my dad's work down near the flats, walk to the rapid line down there, and take it like I was going to a Browns game.

Think my plan will be to drive up tonight and park in Ohio City (that way I know I can actually get out of the city tomorrow) and walk over to Cleveland from there. I'll check and see if there's any sort of line already forming at the Browns stadium or whatever info they end up releasing and be there overnight, or otherwise just crash at my friends apartment until early as hell tomorrow morning and go from there. If they're expecting 800k to a million people, just seems like it'd be impossible to just drive up tomorrow and actually be able to park or see a damn thing.

We are being dropped off at the RTA Rapid Station on Brook park (because I don't think there will even be spots there to park), and taking that into downtown.

I bet the RTA will be an out-of-control mess, too. You might see people hanging off of train cars, like those pictures from India you sometimes see.

Agree about the rapid. It is going to be a complete mess, but everything will likely be a mess anyway.

That last part is the problem. Going to the event is one thing...actually being able to see anything is another.

The Newsnet article estimated 500k. Still pretty, uh, full.

I think that Newsnet article is guessing way too low. You've got a lot of folks coming from outside northeast Ohio, so imagine the showing that is going to come from the region overall. Anyone who expects a crowd comparable to St. Paddy's Day is essentially saying that St. Paddy's Day is just as important to N.E. Ohio as is the first world championship in 52 years.

Not a chance. It's going to be a million, and it will start early.

I personally think the most reasonable plans will involve planning on walking 2-3 miles. Park that far away (at least), then walk.

As I said upthread, having a bike then walking means you can park 10 or so miles away without too much problem. And that will mean both getting in and getting out.

If you live on the west side I'm thinking taking the rapid from the airport straight to tower city might be the best bet. Seems like an easy way to get In and out, though I'm sure that line will be stupid crazy. No matter what you do there's gonna be a long wait.
