Championship Parade/Rally

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One of the greatest moments ever was when they started playing game 7 on the big screens. They started from 4:38 in the 4th quarter. It was Fred and AC's commentary too. I thought it was really cool because there was no warning that they were gonna play it. It just started playing.

The crown noticed it really quick and there was a quick cheer but then there was a silence like we were all watching a movie we've never seen. Then as each possession went we were all chanting Defense! Defense! and Let's Go Cavs! Let's Go Cavs!. It was a very amazing feeling.

Then the crowd went nuts on The Block. We lost our shit when Kyrie hit The Shot. The reaction was as if it was many peoples first time seeing it. Then during The Stop everyone was going crazy cheering for Love. Watching the last 4:38 of that game with all of those people was on of the best moments of my life by far.

I was in mall b around 10:20ish prior to them showing this. I was located near the Believe mural and the Nike truck that was selling shoes. I had to use the restroom so I attempted to go into the Key building where I was turned away. So I figured I could get to Tower City and back before the parade was supposed to start at 11 a.m. I went in the wrong door and ended up going to the casino which I had never been to. Fortunately there was no cover charge and I was able to handle my business.

When I returned to mall b they were still showing the end of the game when Kyrie was running around and Lebron got fouled hard. I actually filmed the crowd's reaction to when the game ended but I have to edit the footage and all the photos I got from yesterday. It really was unlike anything else I have ever experienced.

Does anyone know who actually wrote the text that Lebron read? That was exceptional.

I want to know when that was recorded. The Cavs posted it to facebook on the 20th.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was recorded before the playoffs even started. Or during one of those one week breaks between series that we had.

You're watching the parade?!

I was expecting you to just come in here for updates and rewatch the replay later :p

Ha! Well, if you know one thing about me, it's that I've been waiting my whole for a god-damned championship parade. Wouldn't miss it for the world. Drove 7 hours after work last night, and got in after midnight! Hopped on a commuter bus at 7am, and the bus spit us out at 8.15, on Orange Ave., because that's as close as the drive could get to Tower City.

Did they not have barriers on E9th? For anyone who is there?

I mean, these shots of E9th.......there is absolutely ZERO chance they move these people out.

They may just have to go straight to the mall stage.

Supposedly, the barriers were no stolen. No joke. I have no idea how you steal barriers, but that's what my buddy in law enforcement told me.

CPD has a thankless job today trying to clear lanes for this parade.. They deserve some thanks too.

CPD stopped trying to clear E. 9th at 10. Which is why it was completely blocked at 11.

City administration and police dropped the ball BIG time.

The city only has what a couple thousand police to try to handle 1M+ people?

4 largest sports parade then in history.

Boston Redsox 2004 3M
Spain winning WC in 2010 2M (Madrid)
Chicago White Sox 2005 1.5 M

If we hit 1 to 1.3 we are 4th on that list with a chance if more people show to get 3rd...

3M for the Red Sox in 2004? The Patriots had won the Super Bowl 8 months earlier. What was the big deal? It was like their 20th title in 40 years!

Request help from neighboring communities and the state. And assign one guy to guard the shed where the barricades are stored, so you have enough, when you need them.

This looks like a mad house. I've never seen the fans this close to the cars/players before in a parade.

I high-fived 29% of the Cavs roster: Love, Mozzy, Delly, and Shump. I might have high-five Ty Lue, but it was just a tangle of arms, out of that trailer. And I just missed Mo.

Can I post jpegs, or do I have to upload them to the web first?

Barricades would have helped.

It also would have been nice to have a row of port-o-potties & like a water stand on each side street coming off the route. Its like they never played Roller Coaster Tycoon.

"The Red Sox held a parade (or as Boston mayor Thomas Menino put it, a "rolling rally") on Saturday, October 30, 2004. A crowd of more than three million people filled the streets of Boston to cheer as the team rode on the city's famous Duck Boats. The parade followed the same route the New England Patriots took following their victories in Super Bowls Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 and Super Bowl XXXVIII in February."
