Just be objective and ask yourself this question,

If Grant made both Waiters and Thompson available on the trade market, what type of player could such a package fetch?

I'm personally stumped. I don't think you'd get much of anything. A couple protected picks if lucky? That's a problem.

I think Waiters could actually net a good return. We wouldn't get = value for him or anything close for that matter but I still feel he'd get us a good asset back.

TT on the other hand? Idk to be honest. Nothing spectacular though.

See I think the opposite. Thompson at the very least is a plus rebounder. A good young rebounder will always have SOME value in the league.

But Waiters? He's averaging 14-3-2 on 49 TS% and has a PER of 12. That's a dime a dozen player.

The smartest guy in the room. We're not even average. We're a pile of shit with this doofus running the show. You show them Chris Grant! You show them with those analytics that you think no other team uses...

Not a good way to project for a sophomore player who is getting artificially low minutes solely due to a coach's decision. Dion Waiters is probably the most dynamic player on the team.

You must not be watching him play if you can't tell he has the makings of a star player.

If Waiters is the most dynamic young player on the team, that would explain a lot given the Cavs current predicament. And you have to begin to ask yourself WHY is his getting "artificially low minutes" at this point, no?

It's because he's not that good. Bad defender. Doesn't play well off the ball. Inefficient and inconsistent. Fans always overrate their young drafted players. He's just another Randy Foye or Rodney Stuckey at best.

If Dion Waiters is a "bad defender", what the heck is the rest of the team?!

Just ... no.

Dion is a good defender when he locks onto his guy. But he struggles as a team defender. Good 1 v. 1 guy but struggles a bit in space. But he is the only one on the wing who seems to even care about defense especially compared to Jack, Irving, and Miles.

He definitely sags into the paint too long, recovers too slow, and can be lazy in transition (though he's been much better at that lately), but he's a 2nd year player and has latched on to Mike Brown's defense first mentality. I for the life of me can't figure out why Dion still gets jerked around while Kyrie, Jack, TT, etc. get free reign to suck on both ends.

That is a question MB hasn't been asked.
Interesting that when Scott was HC he said why he was hard on Waiters.
I would wager MB's response won't be as credible.

I don't really have a problem with the way Mike Brown coaches Dion, as it gets results, if only the next game. What kills me is that three of our biggest "no effort" offenders get no discipline. Brown just doesn't know how to handle personnel.

Watched the Golden State vs Clippers last night and really was impressed by Mo Speights, Clay Thompson, and Harrison Barnes. Mark Jackson seems like a really good coach too. Just saying....

I think one issue with the construction of this team is that we tried to go from 0-60 in one offseason.

And to go from essentially institutionalized losing to playoffs is pretty close to impossible, especially if your pieces don't fit and if your pieces aren't super talented.

And while we certainly have talent, much of the talent is redundant and doesn't fit.

It just is ridiculous to say "hey guys, I went to the store, picked up a few things we already have and now you should be good to go to the playoffs"

It doesn't work that way. I like some of Grants picks, but our team is very redundant.
