Cleveland Browns 2018 Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re- Harrison: his feet are awesome and he is obviously a great athlete.

But I am terrified of his strength. I think Cam Heyward might literally body slam him on the field. It's not good and I worry that starting him too soon could do more harm than good for this team.

As for Peppers, it seems like the Browns are committed to using Peppers at a 4th linebacker/hybrid safety. Which is obviously much better for his traits. Him attacking the line is a lot of fun and he is a talented blitzer
Peppers is at his best when he’s playing that role. Almost like Charles Woodson late in his career. I think he could cause some havoc in that role

Peppers is too small to be a LB and doesn't have the ball skills to be a reliable safety. Plus has some entitlement issues. Classic tweener from a program living off of its past and not reality which is that it is third tier.

If so, that's just a huge boost for the franchise. Finding a starting LT as a UDFA...rather incredible. If he turns out to be that good, they'd be smart to sign him to an extension and boost his pay after this season.
Finding a starting offensive lineman - not just left tackle - as an undrafted FA would be incredible and demonstrate a very competent FO. Finding a star offensive linemen undrafted is almost unheard of.

Offensive linemen, at any position, are the second most important position in the NFL (after QB). They are involved in every offensive snap and impact play success.

I hope Zegura is correct. Why did Harrison go undrafted again?

He enjoys the drugs.

I’d imagine he didn’t interview all that well, because his workout numbers were not bad enough to drop him.

I think because he was such an unknown/had lots of question marks, a lot of teams were counting on the Senior Bowl process to provide a lot of info and metrics on him. Got sick, missed the whole Senior Bowl week and lost twenty lbs. which likely affected his ability to perform they way teams would want in workouts following the Senior Bowl.

Maybe it’s just team propoganda, but Zegura has been saying Harrison is basically following Zeitler around and working with him in the weight room, even on off days.

How so?

Long impactful careers in Cleveland is far more important than something arbitrary like whether they start game 1 four and a half months after being drafted.

Derp. I’m an idiot. I actually paused for a minute before posting thinking that was the case, but no I just had to show how “smart” I am

The Desmond Harrison I saw in the preseason really didn’t look ready to start at left tackle against NFL starting DEs.

A year from now he might be the guy, but he just appears to not have the strength yet.

The only vivid memory I have of him was when he got knocked flat on his ass and Baker got sacked.

Could just mean he did a perfectly acceptable job on every other snap since linemen are supposed to go unnoticed to the novice eye (like mine).

Future HOF LT Jason Peters was undrafted. He was discovered by the football factory up in Buffalo, coached by Mike Mularky.

True. But even Jason Peters didn't start for two years.

Maybe starting Harrison is Hue’s master plan to get Tyrod injured immediately so they can go to Baker without having to make any of the veterans upset :chuckle:
