Cleveland Browns 2018 Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Alright guys, last week (i believe it was tuesday night), i had some really stupid dream. Something i figured was so idiotic it wasnt worth sharing so i didnt.

The dream was that Taylor would end up getting injured thursday night and Baker would come in and set the world on fire. And by on fire i mean he would step up, lead them to victory thursday and lead the browns to the playoffs.

Ultimately in the AFC championship game the browns end up absolutely destroying whoever they play and the browns end up in the super bowl, facing the Lions.

I guess i dont expect the browns to get to the super bowl, but i also didnt expect Baker to fill in for Taylor midway through the Thursday night game and pull off a victory.

So either way its on record. When the browns get to the super bowl, they will play the lions

Battle of mid-tier QBs :chuckle:

The Browns are blitzing 41 percent of the time this season, the highest rate in the NFL. However they are allowing the seventh-highest completion percentage with that blitz (67 percent), compared with the second-lowest completion percentage (58 percent) when they don't blitz.

I wonder what the average depth of completion is for blitzing vs not blitzing. I don't care if we are blitzing and they are catching passes short of the marker on 3rd down, but if we are getting burnt deep it is a problem.

I really have no issue with defense whatsoever through the first 3 weeks, however.

So we have a prophet here, or someone who's dreams are just all over the place.

Let's hope for the best, though.

Inside the Locker Room: Players React to Mayfield Starting

Technically, it began with 1:42 to play in the first half on Sept. 20th against the New York Jets when Mayfield took over after Tyrod Taylor suffered a concussion.

The Browns made it official on Monday, when Hue Jackson announced what everyone knew was coming.

"I am not surprised by what he did in the game," Jackson said in his explanation of promoting Mayfield. "I think a lot of other people are. I do not think that his teammates are. I do not think that the coaches are. I think that we knew, once he got his opportunity, he would go in there and nail it. That is what he did.”

Jackson said Mayfield's performance was "a stark difference" from that of Taylor.

“This is sooner than when I thought it would happen because I thought that we would have played much better earlier on offense," Jackson said. "We did not. There was a stark difference in how we performed when (Mayfield) got in there. That is the nature of this business. That is the way that it works. It is an earned business. The young man went in there, and he earned the right to be the starter.”

The OBR talked with a couple of the defensive backs that face Mayfield every day in practice and have seen, first hand, what Mayfield is capable of doing. They weren't surprised at the success in his first outing.

"He had so many very great things in the offseason and in training camp, that there's no shock or surprise to what he was able to do (last week)," TJ Carrie said. "Those are the things that he's just naturally done.

"Now being in the position (as the starter), he will be able to have all of the focus on him and to run the things schematically that the coaches will put in for him," he said. "I'm looking for more of those things and I'm excited for him."

This is just me guessing - not looking up any stats whatsoever - but from the PITT/NO games, it seems that we give up a ton of mid-deep shit late.

Now are we blitzing a lot in these situations? Not sure. I haven't looked it up. But PITT/NO got back in those games b/c of wide open receivers.

It was so frustrating.
