Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

gg Watson

Probably how I would have guessed it, TBH. MPH really doesn't matter, though.

Does anyone think Watson has great arm talent? It's just average to me, but he just seems so smart that he could keep a team like ours really competitive.

I see so much Alex Smith in him, and so much Aaron Rodgers in Mahomes in terms of arm talent. Mahomes biggest issue for me is actually if he can stop the pocket playmaking when it isn't needed. I have the utmost confidence in his arm talent.

Kyle Boller could the shit out of the ball and even 80 yards on his knees.
Haha, I remember Bengals fans telling me all about this about Gus Frerotte. As if I was supposed to care.

So we're now lead to believe that Watson is guaranteed to fail as an NFL QB?

Well then....

Shhhh! Don't tell the other teams. We need them to draft QBs way higher than their worth so someone drops to #12.

If the Browns still wants Watson after this OMG.

1. Declined their offer at senior bowl.
2. Made fun of the Browns for no reason
3. Can't throw a football harder than my grandma.

Plenty of QBs opt out of this velocity measurement. It's hard to say if the quarterbacks under 55 really have been that poor with so many opting out.

BTW, here's the complete list:

That is a good point. Most top prospects don't throw at the combine, so we don't know where they would end up. I would think at individual workouts the team has better things to do than a relatively silly drill, but below I put all 107 of Ourlads' data points on a plot and it really does not look good for guys who measure below 54 mph. Not only that but ignoring the guys that don't throw, Christian Ponder is the only sub-54 mpg guy who ended up going in the first round. Do teams take this metric in individual workouts? The general emptiness of this chart in the bottom left (low velocity, high draft pick) leads me to believe that teams take this pretty seriously.

Did Colt Brennan not understand this drill? Did he throw left handed? 44???!?!

I think Colt Brennan's mph seems faster in the Hawaiian-Aleutian Time Zone where everything moves slower.

Well shit, let's just sign your grandma if she can still throw a pigskin a quarter mile.

Just my personal opinion after watching all the top QB prospects this year, seems to me Mitch is the clear cut #1 option. On tape just seems like the most polished, natural, has the arm talent, just looks easy for him. Has everything Hue said he is looking for, has out right said he wants to be here, loves the Browns..hard to see how analytics wouldn't favor him with the best completion percentage and td/int ratio... with the culture Hue is bringing and how he seems to want the guys that want to be here....just seems like a fit..does anyone share the same opinion? What the consensus downside with Mitch?

Just because the threads were getting confusing, I moved the Pryor talk to Browns Offseason.

Getting back to the QB situation, the downside on Mitchell is that he isn't Myles Garrett. If the Browns really feel he has to be a Brown, they have the chance to trade up from #12, but I don't know if he is good enough for the price of a trade up. I personally would be shocked if he is still there at #12 because he is a good developmental QB prospect in a league desperate for them.
