Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Love a good podcast, probably never going to listen to any of the Cleveland beat crew doing one.

NDT Scouting does a good one called Locked on Browns.

Jeff is incredible and does a great job. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a good podcast.

Mayfield isn't going #1... Unless he has Dorsey's wife's nudes. If Rosen doesn't act like a child in his pre-draft interviews then he should be it, if he does then take Darnold.

If the Browns want the clear cut best quarterback, then yes he will. If they want a guy that turned it over 22 times then Darnold is your guy. If they want a china doll who has missed half the games over the past 2 seasons due to injuries then by all means draft Rosen who wants nothing to do with playing for the Browns. If you want DeShone Kiser part 2, the Allen is the man for you.

Edited for inflammatory statements. Cut it out (Phills14)

The excuse is that Case Keenum really isn’t a very good football player.

When presented with hyperbole, I'm not in love with equal and opposite hyperbole. That's what bad 24 hour sports shows do.

Keenum has traits to be a good bridge QB. He served that role for Goff. He is undersized and throws some low velocity balls. Everywhere he has played since high school wrote him off as a backup talent, but when the chips are down coaches tend to give him a shot. In a very good offense with great receivers in a dome, he played his best ball of his career in Minny.

Now that isn't a player who sucks, but it's not a guy you break the bank to sign no matter what.

Case Keenum would be bad in Cleveland. It would be Bradford who would be the better fit overall. Keenum need the right system and played around him to be effective while at least Bradford can play on worse teams if he has a good OLine.

Dang it, Keys. You're right. I went big.

But with the money he might command in what I consider to be a fluke year playing game manager for a creative offensive football team with strong weapons (Diggs, Thielen, and Rudoph are fantastic) and a world-class defense... consider me out.

If he started 16 games for Cleveland, I think he probably throws 17 TD's and 22 INT's. We know what Case Keenum is. We've seen him plenty of times. If he can be had for a one year deal, or a three year deal that's essentially only guaranteed for one year... maybe if I strike out elsewhere.

I don't think that's going to be his market, though.

In no world do I "PAY THE MAN."

Based on what? Top 5 in the league last season shows otherwise. But don't let stats get in the way of your thinking.
Oh jeez guy. I didn't want to be an ass. I didn't want to be.

OK, here we go. Top 5 in what, exactly?

QB Passing Yards? He was a decent but not glorious 12th in the league.

Perhaps TD's, right? No, he was 12th in the league.

OK, gotta be QB rating, right? Nope, admirable but 8th in the league.

All in a career year playing for a creative offense with fantastic weapons (Diggs, Thielen, Rudolph might be the best receiving punch in the NFL). He had a world class defense behind him. That's a Super Bowl contending car giving a driver the keys and saying "Don't wreck, fella." To his credit, he managed the game. This is his absolute peak performance. You want to pay him based on that and gamble we can recreate it on this 0-16 team?

I think you're more likely to see the Case Keenum whose Passer Rating was in the 70's 3 out of his other 4 seasons in the NFL.

But by all means. Don't let reading, comprehending, or counting get in your way of thinking.

Warming to the idea of Bradford for a 2yr deal and Drafting Darnold #1 and having him sit year 1 behind Sam and Kizer.

Curious to hear @BimboColesHair thoughts.

Good with it. Not sure it would have mattered who was at QB for them last year, the results would have been similar IMO. Case earned himself a payday, just hopefully won't be from Minnesota.

It also sounds like they think they have a decent shot at Cousins, and getting him for less than what some non-contenders can offer him...not sure how I feel about that just yet.

Rosen played in 17 of 25 UCLA games the last two years. 17/25 = 68%

If you include his true freshman year he's played in 30 of 38 (78.9%) games in his career.

thestatman everybody.
