Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Browns have had offers for Kizer and have turned them down.

I think they are keeping him on the small chance that he vastly improved once he had time to digest the season.

I definitely think this is something that could be revisited after free agency/after the top pick is made.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they found a deal for Kizer that they were comfortable with on draft day.

I have not heard that one reported. I've heard pundits claim he will be gone by the start of the year but haven't heard of rumors about offers. Do you know any more detail than that?

As bad as Kizer was this year, and he was bad, I think it's foolish to give up on the kid and sell him for peanuts. If you get something substantial for him, I'm all for it. Otherwise, let him compete in the QB room next year and see what happens. He still is 6'4 235lbs with a strong arm, good head on his shoulder, a leader and super young.

I looked up some history on NFL.com and came up with the grades from the top QBs since 2014. I assume they are using the same grading scale but I don't know that. Here is how everyone stacks up over the last 5 drafts.

Name Year NFL.com Grade
Sam Darnold 2018 7.10
Jameis Winston 2015 6.70
Carson Wentz 2016 6.53
Jared Goff 2016 6.51
Mitchell Trubisky 2017 6.31
Marcus Mariota 2015 6.27
Blake Bortles 2014 6.22
Josh Rosen 2018 6.19
Paxton Lynch 2016 6.17
Teddy Bridgewater 2014 6.15
Derek Carr 2014 6.14
Johnny F'ing Football 2014 6.12
Baker Mayfield 2018 6.09
Lamar Jackson 2018 6.06
Deshaun Watson 2017 5.98
Josh Allen 2018 5.95
Patrick Mahomes 2017 5.87
Connor Cook 2016 5.85
Jimmy Garappolo 2014 5.82
DeShone Kizer 2017 5.78
AJ McCarron 2014 5.76
Mason Rudolph 2018 5.66
Cody Kessler 2016 5.41
Bryce Petty 2015 5.40
Bretty Hundley 2015 5.35

Darnold is the best prospect to come out in the last 5 years according to these grades and it isn't particularly close. I can't find NFL.com grades prior to 2014 so I don't know what Andrew Luck or RG3's grades were but I'd imagine Darnold isn't too far off from Luck.

Was told the Chargers made an offer for him and Browns wouldn’t do it. That’s the extent of the information I got.

The website has never been transparent in how they come up with those grades. In years past, I've noticed they come up with grades halfway through the college season and don't do a great job of updating throughout the draft process. I think it's a good starting point every year, but I pay more attention to other sources as the process goes on.
