Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Can't wait to see the massive pass Josh Allen will get from his Tweets. That dude has been Teflon all draft season and now some clearly racist statements are going to get spun into being young and dumb for a guy who grew up on a 3,000 acre farm and chose a Bon Jovi song that wasn't even charting while he was in his dads nut sack. He's just a huge rap fan coming out to Bon Jovi wearing a JC Penny suit. Of course.

Andrew Miller just placed on the 10 day DL

This legitimately might be the worst day of my life

Oh he will. And you'll like it!

After Mayfield gets selected, Dorsey will take to the air ways and claim that this pick was unanimous throughout the upper management team and will cite that all think that he's far and away the best qb in this class. Which he is. Ron Jaworski, who for years has never endorsed quarterbacks pre draft, has said for weeks that this guy is a can't miss franchise quarterback. Pro football Focus graded him out as better than Watson, Wentz, Goff and Maholmes. Gave him the highest rating since they've been doing this. Yet, all the stupid Browns fans are flooding the talk shows denouncing this pick.

The only thing more inept than previous Browns regimes in evaluating football players are the collective Browns fan base.

Aaron Goldhammer has said for over a month now that he will eat horse poop if the Browns select Mayfield. Well Hammer, bon appetite, you moron.

The only annoying thing will be if he does happen to drop, it will 100% be blamed on the tweets, not the media being wrong and over-inflating his value. It's like the people who still think Johnny Manziel would have been great if it wasn't for the drinking and drugs.

What if he still turns out to be the best QB in this class?

Look, no matter who the franchise settled on, there is a chance that another player is going to do a better job correcting his flaws on another team. The Browns have to use what is in their own control - find the player they believe will provide stability for the next decade, identify a realistic time table and preparation.

What was attempted last year seemed doomed from the jump. Hey, let's value a future pick. Meantime let's pretend Osweiler is going to do fine as a bridge QB. When that charade falls apart put in the young unprepared third rounder who should really sit for several reasons to correct all his bad habits. Finally, pour table salt in your eye sockets. Everything is going to be great!

This front office might pick a player half the fan base doesn't want. That's what happens when the QB class has so many fairly equal prospects but no clear top tier talent. The biggest key to success happens after the first round concludes and coaches have a coachable prospect to polish up. What goes on with Taylor in the first season in the QB room and on the field will be crucial to the top pick. Lastly the team is built around the QB, so the tackle positions are going to be vital to development as well.

QB is the most important position on the field, but therest so much more than just picking a guy and throwing him out there.

Well, Jaws also said this about Colin Kaepernick:

"I believe Colin Kaepernick can be the best QB arguably in the history of the NFL."

So maybe not the best judge of talent?

If Johnny Manziel never existed, 75% of the bitching would go away.

Have you ever tried to explain to a non-sports type why the draft is important? My wife is going to stare at me dressed in full Browns regalia on my couch, sweating, watching young men walk slowly up to a stage over and over again for two hours. All respect for me will again be lost for a few weeks.

My wife literally just got annoyed that I'm going to a bar instead of helping put our 24 children to bed.

ME: "I told you about this weeks ago. The Browns have the 1st and 4th picks in the draft! They've won 1 game in the last 2 years!"

HER
: What does that mean?!

ESPN (in background): "
The Browns are expected to take Baker Mayfield #1 overall"

You cancel your plans? All this Mayfield is a real buzz kill. I plan on getting a head start on yard work like I ussually do in the fall when the Browns are on and then going to bed early unless a something changes.

Dude. Damn near exact same situation. So, I called my wife’s sister and asked if she would come help put the kids to bed. Mission accomplished. Now I can drink my Browns worries away in peace.
