Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Are there actual rumblings of Kluber getting moved or are we just talking? Didn’t see anything whilst going back a couple pages.

No team is going to give us that much for Kluber. He is great, no doubt and has a great contract, but the man will be 35 in 2 years. In 2 years we will be losing carrasco and Bauer without any question. Without making significant changes to the lineup, we won't be winning anything in the American League.

Houston just smoked us and Boston shredded their pitching in 5 games. Boston scored as many runs in one inning, as we did in 27. We couldn't do much against new York last year either.

You hold onto Kluber too long, you could miss the chance to cash in on his value while it's still high. Keep on waiting, it will only go lower and you will be stuck with a guy past his prime. If You're content winning the central every year, by all means do nothing and get bounced in the 1st rd next postseason.

So giving him to New York along with another 2 win player gets you...closer...to beating the rest of the AL?

What possible logical sense does that make.

One of the local guys mentioned it but nobody of significance.

Shades of trading Kyrie to the Celtics for quarters on the dollar when they were the Cavs biggest competition

Luckily the Indians are actually a competently run organization so we don’t have to worry about that

It's not my problem you can't recognize a player that will have a stellar career. Lindors war was 4 in 15, now 7.6 this year.

And yes we need hitters. Are you that brain dead? Your 2 win player didn't get 1 hit this postseason and has done shit in 2 years.

So your plan is to...trade him because of ten games? Why not trade Ramirez?

Your deal doesn’t make any sense.

Gleyber Torres is a .250 hitter with a .543 OPS in the postseason. Kipnis is .598

Since that’s the metric we’re absurdly using to quantify success.

It's useless talking to you. You either don't watch baseball, or are just trolling for the hell of it. You would be have to be incredibly uninformed not to know kipnis stinks and has no value. They tried to trade him last year to the mets and they didn't want him. He's only here because of the money.

You rely too much on stats. I don't need a war to tell me Edwin and Kipnis don't have it anymore. Edwin will be 37 next year. I watch most of the games. He doesn't have the bat speed to catch up to elite fastballs. He is overmatched against pitchers like Verlander, Cole, etc. That's not changing anytime soon. He is an easy out come postseason time, when up against the best pitchers. Same with Kipnis, an easy out. If war was everything, we would have killed the astros, or at least scored more runs. Kipnis had a higher war than Gonzalez, but that didn't stop Marwin from crushing us when it mattered. Wars don't mean shit when building a team. Watching the game tells you a lot more about players. Give me some guys that have leadership and some postseason success on their resume. We probably miss Napoli a lot in that regard.

If you want to win a championship you will need mlb proven players to get over the top. Not some guys in a ball or double a. And to think you're going to get a young phenom, plus a great reliever, mlb 1st baseman and a young pitching prospect in aaa is delusional at best.

And I will take it another step forward. I would trade Kluber for Ronald Acuna straight up and not think about it twice. Another phenom I forgot about.

No, if the cavs traded for Brown or Tatum, very few would care. They missed the boat on the players they got back, not trading with Boston.

Mike Napoli has a resume of postseason success?

Atlanta would laugh in our faces if we asked for Acuna

There you go.

There is something that makes sense.

The rest of this “if you don’t think trading Kluber and Kipnis for a 21 year old second baseman will get us to beat Houston and Boston next year you don’t watch baseball” is a tremendously dumb thing to argue.

Anyone guilty of posting insightfully realizes this discussion is past the point of argument and education right?

He’s earned his place on the ignore list at this point.

It's one thing to be ignorant on the topic. Baseball is a complex sport and trade values are difficult to measure for those who don't follow super closely. I'd be more understanding if he were willing to consider that he might be wrong (because he is).

Napoli was a tremendous leader and I loved having him here, but he hit .173 with 1 HR and 4 RBIs during the entire 2016 postseason (15 games).
