Who would have thought Sexton could pass Kyrie for 3pm in their rookie season? Considering he would shy away from the shot early in the season it is really a testament to his ability to learn and adapt. Keep improving young bull.
Krie missed 14 games his rookie year. Sexton broke the record with 16 games left in the season. My point is, it's legit.

It is even more impressive when you consider Kyrie came into the league as a known 3 point shooter and Sexton was projected to struggle from deep. I really didn't see him shooting 32% let alone 39%. It is also impressive that he has been able to maintain the number as his attempts have increased.

Bottom line for me is, I'm satisfied with what Sexton has done as a rookie. IMO people expecting much better from the 8th pick may have had their bar set too high.

19 year old rookie point guard nevertheless

Hmmm - 8th overall pick. 1st overall pick would be better, right?

Anybody want to trade Sexton even up for Fultz?

28 and 5 with no turnovers
Was not able to warch, but based on the box scores this seems to be his game as a cav... Been frustrated with him early in the season because of his penchant to shoot too much (with low fg %) and lack of assists... Past couple of games has been good, he probably used the as break to work on his game, by all accounts he is a hard worker

All it took was getting rid of Hood and Burks. A healthy Love. Less Nance/Sexton lineup. Bingo!

I really think alot of it has to do with letting Sexton push the ball in transition. It's a big part of his game and Hood, Burks, and Nance all slowed down the offense because they wouldn't immediately give it to Sexton.

It just puts a constant pressure on the opposing teams defense to defend the whole court. Teams have to stop Sexton from getting to the rim in transition which slows down how quickly they can set up their half court defense.

Another great game from pps perspective

Great post.

Sexton’s best game as a Cavalier, and some of the chemistry he’s developing with Love is awesome to see. Sexton finishing the year strong and continuing to improve should make it an interesting 2019 draft with Koby heavily scouting Ja Morant.

I’m a believer in Sexton (I’ll admit some of the insight Ben gave about the initial turmoil with Sexton was discouraging) but I’m also a heavy advocate for drafting BPA as opposed to limiting yourself to positional needs. Sexton can probably be moved but I’m honestly not seeing any value outside top 3 as guys like Reddish, Little and Langford have completely fallen off the rails). I’d rather take my chances on a Morant/Sexton backcourt but I’m also a huge RJ fan so we shall see.

He's been surprisingly efficient the last few games. I still am not sure that his defense or playmaking will be good enough to be a starting PG, but, the kid is showing he has a definite spot in today's NBA. Kevin Love has been a huge help in Sexton's development. Sexton's play is night-and-day when Love plays vs when he does not.

I actually loved his defense tonight. He repeatedly cut off drives by Leonard and others. Speeding back to defend . That was pretty cool.

Wasn't always up in Lowry's face for those 3s, but he took Lowry out of it. Stayed in front of guys.
