Trae Young will be BBQ chicken tomorrow. Sexton and Cedi should attack him relentlessly.
Young is going to struggle in this league and imo has the highest probability of being labelled a Jimmer type bust than any other player taken in the top 10.
Huerter was the player that they hit on.

Disagree about Young. Not going to compare him with other plaeyrs in this draft, but he will be a good regular season player in time. Different player than Fredette. He is just a natural playmaker.

Also, let's not turn this thread into a Trae Young thread.

I am expecting he stay in the league but still be considered a bust from where he was taken and who was available that they passed on etc. He will carve out a role as a starting pg on lottery teams be it in ATL or elsewhere but he is a high end back up on a contender. He cannot defend at all, and although his passing and dribble drive are solid they are not as elite as scouting reports hyped him to be.The long range shooting accuracy is nice but worthless when teams defend him with his bad release point.
I think the fact that teams game planned for him in the latter half of the college season and he immediately struggled is more indicative of what he will face from 1 on 1 defenders at the pro level than the type of meh defense that allowed him to jack shot after shot in his hype building campaign in the first part of his time in Oklahoma.

Sexton will have the better career

He’s not that good but not much you can do

Wish these young stars learned how to dribble exceptionally and hit the 3 like a boss

Come on youngstas

about Sexton, do you think Fred and A.C were right with the young Derick Rose comparison?

Rose was hot out of the gate if I remember correctly. He had an uncanny finishing ability, but with the explosion of a prime Wade. He was just super strong.

Collin is fast, but he doesn't have the explosion Rose did.

Sexton is ahead of both Rose & Kyrie on the defensive side of the ball which is what I love. He will develop his 3 point shot and time goes on. Where both Kyrie & Rose are far superior it would be their strong closing at the rim. Sexton attacks the rim with the best of them, he just needs to close stronger. Which with time I think he will be able to do.

This is one of the reasons I'd hesitate to trade Korver, because he is an excellent mentor for young players looking to shoot better, look at what he did for cedi. As for defense, Sexton has the potential to be a lockdown defender, but I think that's gonna be hindered by the system we play, AKA unnecessary switching.

Unless someone mKes is an offer we can’t fefuse I’d keep Korver hill until the deadline. But they have to be moved at that point

I think Korver is a high probability of being traded if the return is better than a meh 2nd rounder in the jr. and sr. loaded fringe rotation prospect draft , but if that's all teams are offering he will stay in CLE.
Hill with his 1 million partial G in 19-20 is worth more at the deadline imo and is the highest probability of getting shopped. Not only for teams looking for cap space for FA but because Hill is a highly serviceable guard that can play either position esp for teams that need pg depth in the playoffs. I think the Cavs could get a decent rotation player on a longer contract paired with a end of the bench expiring for Hill in a heartbeat esp if a playoff team has a key starter injured in the back court. I think they could also get as an alternative a future draft pick in the mid-late lottery from a team nearing the end of it's rebuild that needs veteran leadership this season , want cap space next summer etc. a pick in 2020 or 2021 could justify a bad contract coming back esp if it was 2 yrs or less.

I know it’s only been 3 games, but where are the hustle plays from this guy? Doesn’t get back on defense. Not using his speed to cause any havoc on 50/50 balls or long rebounds.

It looks like he’s indecisive about picking up full court, which is underatandable. Defensively he’s bball IQ is terrible. Which is okay, for now. He’s always out of position. Back-peddling when he should be up pressuring.

They drafted a guy who had a particular set of skills and have gradually drained away any level of instinct he naturally played with. A lot of player do the whole pass or shoot instead of incorporating both simultaneously. He’s thinking and thinking and thinking...

He sleeps and gets caught flat footed on defense when he’s not pressing. Maybe he was told to ease up due to foul troubles. Not a pretty night against Young who had an amazing performance.

Anyway.

Sexton does not fit next to Clarkson. Not sure why Lue isn't putting the ball in Sexton hands.

Lue definitely isn't the one to groom Sexton.

It's crazy that we draft a guy this high and don't let him actually be a point guard. I always thought we might have to sit Clarkson until Sexton was ready to be in the starting lineup and Hill was shipped off.

The bench lineup should be built around Sexton. I would bench Clarkson and Dekker.
