There was nothing to like about this kid other than his attitude and some raw athleticism. He didn’t do anything particularly well in college except score, and win, and watching the highlights, he scored and won in a manner that you could see didn’t translate to the NBA in the short term. So I’m not up or down on him. He was a gamble on athleticism and character and desire to get better. Everyone is athletic at this level, so we’ll simply have to see if he finds a way to figure it out. I’m pretty convinced he has the will to consistently improve. He’s starting really low though, so three years of improvement might land him somewhere where he’s simply adequate. You need one of those when did he get so good quantum leaps out of him in a year or two, because if that happens, he won’t be satisfied to have arrived. He’ll keep working. He’ll most likely fail. Most do. Either way, he’s where he was expected to be at this point. Not good at all.
