The ball just sticks to him. Delly comes in and it moves.
Being a 1on1 scoring small guard is fine but it limits what he can be. That's a 6th man.
So, would you compare him to "a rich man's Boobie Gibson"?The ball just sticks to him. Delly comes in and it moves.

The ball also sticks with Burks, Hood, and Cedi. I don't like this starting lineup for Sexton. The more Sexton has to defer to other players, the more the ball seems to stick in his hands when he gets it.
I would put Nwaba into the starting lineup instead of Burks. There isn't a good solution since we don't have spot up shooters. Love should help Sexton when he returns but I hope Koby can get a decent spot up shooting SG or SF in a trade.
Kyrie was one of the best prospects with arguably the best rookie season from a PG ever. It is not a fair comparison. Kyrie warps the court in a crazy way. He may never be an MVP, but his offense is just at another level, and comparing Sexton to him is unfair. So, would you compare him to "a rich man's Boobie Gibson"?
It hasn't limited Kyrie to being a 6th man...
He is DEVELOPING, and he's obviously focusing on his own scoring first. I see no problem with it. None at all. He can't learn everything at once. That's not how LEARNING works. By developing a good base for his own scoring, it'll help open up other parts of the game for him, and it will help the game to slow down for him. Both of which should eventually help him setup other players more effectively.
Will he ever be a passing PG? I don't know. It's way to early to tell.
I dont think Sexton currently has shown the ability to be a primary playmaker of whom the lineup should be catered to.
People dont want him with Calrkson. They dont want him with Burks. They didnt like the two games he started with George Hill.
I mean...currently he's kinda part of the issue.
Which is fine. Its a player development season. But its more him than other players.
Somehow Nance finds a way to rack up assists no matter who he shares the court with.

And I missed the rest of the conversation, but just to be clear, I think Sexton has shown enough to have faith to believe he can become noticeably more than a sixth man. I am not saying he will, but he has shown a natural ability to score.I disagree, but even if you're right, it's also unfair to make bold claims like Sexton is on his way to being a 6th man after only 30 total games as an NBA player.
It's also unfair to say he's on his way to being a 6th man with a coaching staff that sucks at putting together rotations that set up our young players for success.
It's also unfair to complain about his playmaking when he shares the court with Hood or Clarkson at all times.
Does Sexton need to improve on a lot of things, including his court vision and playmaking? Yep, absolutely. Is it too soon to have strong worries when he's clearly showing improvement in his game? Yep, absolutely.
It's not too soon to have strong worries about a point guard with a sub 15% AST%. That's replacement level efficiency. All of the top passing PGs in the league were worlds better as rookies. Not a single top 20 assists leader (PG) had a sub 20% rookie season.I disagree, but even if you're right, it's also unfair to make bold claims like Sexton is on his way to being a 6th man after only 30 total games as an NBA player.
