Have to disagree on this. I have no knowledge, but I just don't see Utah giving us Mitchell for Garland plus fewer picks than we gave with Sexton and Markkanen.

Sexton was a sign and trade so you would have reduce his value because of that. I've never been that high on Garland but at that point he was definitely worth more than Sexton and Markkanen combined. The league was really high on Garland at that time. Not just what he was at that point but the potential he still had. Even if Utah didn't want him, they could have found someone to pay up to trade for him.

Somebody earlier suggested Garland for Butler and man if I could do that straight up I would be ALL over it. Idc about age. You get out from under Garland's contract and give yourself the best shot at contending for a year all in one fell swoop? Sign me up.

I think the question that has to be asked this summer is what is the minimum acceptable return for DG in a trade.

It's getting to the point that I think it's addition by subtraction.

Yeah I think the need to get out of Garland’s contract will drive a trade. Frankly I think Garland is better off with a change in scenery.

Niang will just chew the scenery.

The real problem and not just for us is the Celtics are going to be a serious problem for several years. Big talent gap to make up and that’s not easy to do.

He does not create any advantage for the offense. His dribble goes nowhere, drives too deep, does not shoot enough.

He is not a guy who sees the open man well....or if he does.... he's hesitant to deliver to them.

His tendencies are hard to break. Just a shame and I feel sorry for Mitchell.

It seems even his incessant encouragement is not getting through to this lost player.

DG is a great shooter who is tentative to shoot. He is also that small guard who loves to drive but is a poor finisher. Such a conundrum.

Wonder if Paul George is pissed enough to come to Cleveland and we can sell the Clippers on Garland's regression being due to sharing a backcourt with Mitchell.

He had false illusions of being "the man" that once Mitchell arrived he realized how inferior and inept he was and his confidence was absolutely shattered.

When someone is playing like garbage it is hard to imagine they were ever good in the first place, but I have to try and remind myself we really aren't that far removed from Darius looking like a genuine star.

However, I am seriously worried that when it comes to playoff basketball, when the defenders are bigger, more athletic and are locked in every possession that he just doesn't have the physical attributes to be a serious threat.

Then throw in that in the playoffs the game becomes about mismatches and finding little advantages it seems like it is becoming less valuable to a have a true point guard and really you need multiple playmakers across the court that can pass, dribble and shoot.

So offensively Garland becomes less valuable and defensively becomes a clear target for these mismatches. I hope we find a way to turn him around and he finds his place as Dons #2 but I'm just not seeing it anymore.
