He would be better with better coaching. A coach who isn’t afraid to bench him, change his game, make him a smarter player out there.
So is eveyone not named Mitchell, Tristian or morris. He’s a pussy. That’s his problem.
Pop is the better coach and would probably get the best out of him. As long as we have this dip shit at the helm, we'll never see how he can evolveCompared to other guards like Edwards, SGA, Morant, Maxey, Hailburtan, and others who play with force, DG is a wimp. He's bailed out on us and it didn't just happen. He wants to go play with Pop.
Garland is averaging 11-4 on 13 for 30 shooting in the 3 games so far.
I don't think it's just a coaching issue. It's a work ethic and mental issue. His game hasn't evolved in the last 2 years, he does the same thing and attacks the defense the same ways.
You would think everyone on reddit is his father, that cavs sub on there is such a cesspool.
I disagree. Guys on a two way play hungry. He’s playing like he signed a huge contract to make him fabulously wealthy before his 24th birthday.dude plays like he is on a 2 way contract
I don't think anywhere near as much of it comes down to coaching as you think. The Stats the offense puts up in games Mitchell plays and Garland sits vs the other way around are way too drastic of a difference to be coaching.I actually believe a lot of it comes down to coaching. I think JBB just doesn't have the offensive mind to build out different offensive schemes to help players evolve their game. There just isn't the guidance from him and maybe the staff/organization in general. We have basically seen 4 high draft picks develop and plateau under JBB, that's a track record.
I would also say there are probably other factors like lack of vet leadership for Garland to learn under. His big jump came when Rubio came to the team then he got hurt and was basically never around after that.
I also do wonder what he does in the offseason. Last year a report came out that he didn't pick up a basketball for months in the offseason and instead was just in the gym trying to get stronger.

It's not in game coaching or lineup adjustments to pair with Garland that I'm talking about. It's development and I think JBB is a coach for early development but he isn't going to keep developing them after a certain point. I believe JBB is a first stage of a rebuild coach that gets your players enough minutes for the game to slow down for them. After that he is just doesn't have the offensive mind to build out and develop players further.
I've never been extremely high on Garland like some here. I thought he could top out as the 2nd or 3rd best player on a team. I've always thought he played offense too much like George Hill. That's kind of the level I thought he might end up being. I thought he needed to be broken of certain habits to get better.
