UPPER MARLBORO, MD (WUSA)--Prince Georges County Police say that Delonte West, a starting guard for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, was arrested at 10PM, September 17, 2009, for possession of two handguns and a shotgun.

Prince Georges Police say West was stopped for unsafe lane changing while riding his Can Am Spyder motorcycle, northbound on I-495 at Central Avenue.

Police say that officers found that West had two handguns and a shotgun in his possession and arrested him. West, police add, was very cooperative.

A Prince Georges County Police official says that West was released on personal recognizance. Court records indicate that he is scheduled to appear in court on November 20, 2009.

Delonte West is a graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, where he led the Raiders to their first tournament appearance. West played for the Boston Celtics, the Seattle Supersonics and was traded to the Cavaliers in February 2008.

I hope it isn't as serious as Plax or there will be a big switch of feelings towards Delonte. We need him in a year with high hopes. I can't do the 'woe is me Cleveland' crap, but this is bad luck.

In all seriousness, I hope this all works out. No one was hurt, doesn't seem to be any alcohol involved (still a young story, so let's keep crossing our fingers), and I don't know if he was licensed for any weaponry or what the hell he was thinking.

Just hopin' for the best.

he's a jackass. hope parker gets the start now. i think many of you made delonte seem alot more important then he really was.

A guy who relentlessly hustles and plays defense well beyond his size doesn't go under-appreciated in this city..well not from my experience at least. Plus he's an optimistic character in the locker room. I am pretty sure you may have been looking over his head, not the latter.

Edit: Not disagreeing with the fact that it was absolutely a jackass move.

Why the heck would you carry two handguns and a shotgun on a motorcycle in the nations capitol? This is just ignorant, and we will be lucky to have him for next season. Anybody know what the NBA's weapons policy is?
