I don't think his defense is better than advertised. People forget MVP Rose was hands down the best PG defender in the league. Highly underrated part of his season

MVP Rose helped lead the stingiest defense in the league. As the Warriors have shown, you can still have the #1 defense if one of your position players is only slightly above average as long as everyone else is elite. On a team where Carlos Boozer, Keith Bogans, and Kyle Korver saw significant minutes Rose was one of those in the first category rather than the 2nd. His strength and lateral quickness plus his decent size for the position made him an absolute menace. He was basically Westbrook except if he tried and was intelligent so he got a few less boards in exchange for shot contests.I never saw him as a great defender
MVP rose had taj Gibson Noah asik there waiting for his man whenever they blew by him at will
His defense is average and he’s a guard so as long as you have defensive beasts in the middle it will look better

That's because the Heatles worst player that year were their point guards. Mike Bibby and Mario Chalmers.Thibs hid rose on the worst offensive player on the Heatles during their battles
Keith bogans was in the nba for his defense
^I actually think Rose does fine against other star PG's. For whatever reason he seems to get up for these games, I remember he would do it when we played the Bulls even with Kyrie.
But to your point he did fine against Wall, and fine against Kyrie. His problem seems to be consistency.
In a playoff situation, he could be a big help though given his tendency to step up in big matchups. Especially off the bench.
its his biomechanics, he does run or jump right and lands straight legged. god knows why players dont work on those details, same with wades kneesRose out again? This is crazy, i always thought that most of our bones, tendons and ligaments were generally created equal and he has just had insanely bad luck on top of playing a bit reckless. His game is not as reckless these days but continues to miss as much as he plays and now i am starting to understand that he really does have different DNA. It sucks because he is solid when he does play. #FRAGILE
